u go zach

In watching Zach's progress; I missed this post from Toolman.

I would'nt say that I have spent the most money on SHO's ... far from it but I bet Im in the top 10 if you count my first SHO that was one of the first SUPER SHO"s on the planet. I cant start the count of how many mods I had in that car and or the $$$$'s I spent on it. Can you spell multiple motors. Doug Lewis has my 401 k lmao !!!

It got to be so dang expensive that I had to learn myself how to pull and do all my engine and tranny work.

If Zach if this is your passion than just do it !!! Im going to start watching this thread closer since its already on page 10-11

Zach if you got the time, energy and money go for it !

dond

All you naysayers, give him a break. Why drive cars at all, you can get a Hayabusa and run 9's without ANY mod money? Different strokes for different folks. The quest in life is not about going the fastest for cheapest. I applaud anyone who wants to take a different path than the majority. I think we all have a bit of that in us or we would not have been attracted to the SHO in the first place. I say, ZaCH SHOULD pour every last bit of effort and every spare bit of money he cares to into making his SHO faster. There is not a person on this forum who has the fastest/best performing/best bang for the buck vehicle that is all things to all people. That car doesn't exist. If modding a SHO brings a person happiness, who are we to discourage him.

We already know Zach is not going to listen to a word anyone says to the contrary, so you might as well support him. Look how much he has matured in his short time with us. Do you think the same would have happened if he were with a different platform? As everyone says time and again, it is not the cars, but the people that make this community so great. Lets show it.

Zach, build it!

The time and energy and money is there. In fact the bottom end is going to get assembled within the next week. This is far from a pipe dream. Im not a 20 yea old kid who talks about what "could be" possible.

Ill make it happen. I see no reason a SHO an not drag race competitively. I will be the first NA car in the 12's, and will be the first ever to break 11's. Will it happen straight off the trailer? Probably not. But after having time to dial in the car and get the bugs worked out it will. Money is nothing but a thing. It comes and goes. So im prepared to spend the thousands more to have the right companies and people involved with the car to make it run the times i want it to.

Competition carries with it the idea of equal combatants and an unforeseen outcome.

The case here is something more akin to what I would call slaughter, with the defenseless and underpowered opponent quickly and ignominiously dispatched.

Zing!! :D

I wish somebody would build a SHO for NASA time trial (or racing) with that much enthusiasm. I think it could be a complete ringer car

And to think, the SHO is actually halfway good at road racing :)

But real bad ass road course sho's have been raced and built numerous times. Personally to see a sho roll up to a drag strip and race competitvly in a 11.5 or even the 12.5 index would be way more impressive.

People have been telling me for a year im going to hit the wall that the drivetrain componets. 2.0 60ft with just old 225 nittos DR's. and that shocking the tires, no preload at all. Never once broke a axle.

But with whatever i break, i will replace with something stronger. Axles, transmissions, tires. Whatever it takes. I tried for a year to break into the 13's and take the #1 spot from mark. And after dialing in the car and preping it correctly it did more than just break into the 13's. it shattered into low 13's. And ill try for another year or two years to dial the car in to get that 11 second run. Or to break into the 12's on motor.

Tim said 10's in 2010, i said 13's in 2013. Difference between me and you is i ran 13's in 2012 and you are still in the 13's 3 years later :p

Looking forward to some competition. I wish someoe else had the drive to make these cars go faster in the 1/4.

They've been built, but few raced, and fewer that held any regional or national track records. Eric J. probably did as well as anybody with a SHO regionally or at the nats level.

If you think 11's or 12's is hard with a SHO, try to get around Road Atlanta in 1:43 in a near stock SHO, or a 1:41 with a few allowed mods (TTE and TTD respective lap records). And while getting one to run 11's would be a great technical feat, so would sub 1:40 at Road Atlanta, AND would also require some brass cojones :)

I would love to built a road course car. But i realize that i cant own more than one race car right now. I bought a 89 that was a perfect canidit for a race car but it now will be cut apart and scrapped.

Maybe later down the road when i can support myself and family and still be able to afford 2 race cars. Got to be responsible and not blow all my money on 3 sho's

I'd love to sit here and tell you how much I've prep I have done to my SHO over the last few years for auto-x and how much of a "ringer" it is in that respect, but I know you think auto-x is just a bunch of peasants in a parking lot. :)

Yea but road racing is so much more money. I eventually want to get the into TT with my z but its just so much money. no way I could afford a cage install these next few years. For now im stuck with a harness bar and seats/harness. I have to look at the rules and see if there is a class that doesnt need a full cage. maybe make a goal for 2015 lol

my younger age hinders this and I am doing pretty good in the grand scheme. If I lived at home and didnt have my own house/bills/forged build I would be at the track alot more. Stupid grown-up responsabilites!
