Yea but road racing is so much more money. I eventually want to get the into TT with my z but its just so much money. no way I could afford a cage install these next few years. For now im stuck with a harness bar and seats/harness. I have to look at the rules and see if there is a class that doesnt need a full cage. maybe make a goal for 2015 lol

my younger age hinders this and I am doing pretty good in the grand scheme. If I lived at home and didnt have my own house/bills/forged build I would be at the track alot more. Stupid grown-up responsabilites!

you can run TT (NASA, NARRA, etc) in a street car with no cage.

It's your choice if you WANT to be running 150 mph with no cage/containment seat, etc, but you can go do it.

I'd love to sit here and tell you how much I've prep I have done to my SHO over the last few years for auto-x and how much of a "ringer" it is in that respect, but I know you think auto-x is just a bunch of peasants in a parking lot. :)

It's not my bag, but not because of the drivers (or peasants as you call them :) I have done it, I just like high speed courses.

Once you get used to dancing the esses at VIR @ 130 or the 90 ft elevation drop at T12 Road Atlanta pulling 1.3G across the S/F @ 127 mph, flat parking lots and cones and lots of standing around can be a bit drab ;)

It's a great way to sharpen your skills and learn vehicle dynamics though

I feel like a need a second to get situated in the car when I start around a track. AutoX doesn't allow me to ever feel settled in.

I think many people feel that way with Auto-X and just get turned away from it. However once you learn it, it's allll good. With that being said.... I just love it for the "great equalizer" effect. No way would I be beating Z06's, GT-R's..etc on the road course....on that same token, the 140 HP Civic that is stomping me probably wouldn't have much chance against my car on the bigger road courses either.

Regardless, It's a matter of time and Finance for me. When I first started Auto-X it was a compromise to road racing. 5 seasons later, I don't see it that way. I absolutely love it.

Sorry Mark, most of my friends who actively road race around here just don't get it and think were just a bunch of idiots in a parking lot! :nut:

Again it's nothing against the driver's. I instruct with several groups including NASA, and well as private coaching. You show me an auto-x'er that's switched over to road racing, and 99.9% of the time they are fast.

The two categories of new to road racing with a car, that are just fast out of the box are guys that raced motorcyles, and auto-x guys (in general).

By comparison, you could probably take 10 road racers to an auto-x and 5 of them would suck

Road racing is a blast .... when I had my Sr 72 .....omg what a adrenalin run

I wish Id never had sold my race prepped SHO to the guy now that owns the nudist camp.

That car was extremely fast and running it in Class 3 NASA at Sebring was a thrill every time ..... I miss it alot

I do have intrest in road racing, more so autoX.

BUT somehow i got caught up in drag racing. Its where the car always shined. So hopefuly when the car is back together it will continue to shine. Either that or i will find limits or walls that i will have to overcome just as if i was road racing. Only difference is I dont know of anyone who has tried doing what im doing. So i have no one to speak to for advice or questions. I get it from outside sources. Unlike if i was road racing where someone could easily send a message to Mark N, kirk, Sam, and and SO many others and get any kind of information that they would need.

A lot of things have changed since 10 years ago when the aftermarket was booming, but one thing gas grown. The technology and the knowledge. That will never disappear. It will only grow. And knowledge and will power is the recipe for success and growing as a community to push the cars to where they could never go 10 years ago.

I rememer when everyone was going nuts over the first 9 second fwd honda. Now a lightly prepped street car can run 9's. and yesterday SpeedFactory broke the 7 second barrier at over 188mph in a fwd Honda.
