Bet you can't guess what this connector is...

It's on my 93 MTX. It's not on any other SHO I've looked at recently and I can't figure out what it is, or if it's supposed to be plugged in. It looks like EGR but it's too low in the engine bay to be EGR (unless Cali 3.0 EGR was located lower?). It's coming off the rear o2 sensor harness. Does anyone have a clue as to what this is?

I also think it's for EGR - my 92s have also had that plug.

Weird. I've checked a 91 MTX, a 93 MTX and a 94/95 ATX and none had this plug. But if it was EGR, it wouldn't reach the EGR unit on the manifold so that doesn't really make sense.

Anyone know if the California 3.0L EGR was in a different location than the ATX cars?

The EGR would have a wiring harness with the mate to the connector you have in your hand. The wiring harness on the EGR would be long enough to reach your connector.
I doubt if that connector plugs directly onto an EGR.

Is that a California 3.0L thing? Because IIRC on the 93-95 ATX cars, the harness had the EGR connector plugged right into the box off one of the upper harness'.

It's on the wrong end. Could be for the Diff. Pin about to fail detector, which was cancelled for cost cutting measures because they figure it couldn't possibly ever happen. :laugh_ti:

My 89 is a CA car. I think I've seen that plug on mine (I'll have to go check again), but it does not plug up to the EGR. I've had that $#@^!ing intake off enough.

Would checking the terminals for power with the key on help confirm that it is in fact for EGR?

That would be awesome if you could. I could have sworn I ran a carfax on my 93 and it has been a NJ car it's whole life. But I want to get to the bottom of this. It's driving me insane.

Not sure. If it has power that wouldn't make sense because my car is not a California car because it has an X2J and even has the X2J tag, nor does it have anything other than a harness that would make anyone think it was a Cali car. so now that I think of it I'd say no this was not a California car.

It's an unused plug for sure, it doesn't go to anything. I always assumed it was for EGR.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. But I'm really curious as to why most car's seem to not have it but some do.

Hard to tell over the internet; Is that a grey with red stripe, black with green stripe and brown with white stripe?

On the wiring for the 3.2 in 94 those wires and plug go to the EGR Pressure Feedback sensor on the back plenum.

On the MTX they might be the Barometric Absolute Pressure Sensor but the colors are not perfect.

Yes except the middle wire looks more purple with a green stripe. It also won't reach my BAP or EGR on the intake. The harness is just way to far down in the engine bay. Plus my BAP is plugged in currently.

EDIT: That first wire may be light blue with a red stripe. It's so dirty/faded it's hard to tell.
