i am in the middle of a clutch replacement, i am also replacing the trans with a freshly rebuilt one ( well i replaced bearings and syncros as well as seals, not really a rebuild). in the process i have found typical problems, the throw out bearing has cut most of my pressure plates fingers off...
You can still find them online. I bought a box off ebay earlier this year. You just need to use something that is secure enough to hold the TOB in place while installing the trans but not so tight as to cause the clutch fork to bind when moving it back and forth. I've used roofing nails in the past. You could try a push pin. I just happened to have this near me and it would probably do the job.

Thanks so much. We were eyeballing this last night and the consensus was that it did do anything functional. I downloaded the Service Manuals from Dropbox and confirm that it is in fact an assembly aid. I am planning to use a small zip tie to get this car off the lift.
