Hey guys,

Stripped out the threads when torquing the lower front caliper sliding pin. Got a helicoil kit for M9-1.25 and stuffed one of the inserts in, but the pin is wobbly and I want to weld the hole up and re-tap. Unfortunately, I didn't see the oversized-thread slider pin post until too late. Does anyone know if the knuckles are cast iron or cast steel?

I think they are cast steel. If they were cast iron, the process of replacing struts would crack the knuckle. Plus they don't rust at the same rate as iron body panels.

The caliper slider pin threads directly into the steering knuckle. The knuckle-threads stripped out, which means either repair the threads or get a new knuckle.
