I saw in a Hall of Shame thread that people are running into problems finding rod bearings. I did not want to derail that thread, so I started a new one here to discuss availability since rod bearings are such a critical part in the 89-95.

A quick check of the online stores and our warehouse shows everyone is out of stock. We will check with our supplier to see what the story is on getting more rod bearings, but right now, there are none in the system. We are hoping they are just temporarily out of stock, but we will check for sure.

That said, SHOSource.com does have rod bearings in stock and ready to ship. We are keeping them at the same price we have been selling them for a while (we adjust pricing whenever our suppliers change pricing to us). If you want to get a set or two, you can get them from our existing stock just to play it safe.

I do not want start a panic, but we all got bit by the loss of main bearings, Eibach springs, Koni struts, clutch adjusters, etc in the past, so we are going to watch the situation closely.

Here's hoping for the best.

Mike

just got some from shosource - they were almost the only ones that have them. one local warehouse has some, but wants $17 each for them. :(

there is still an adequate supply of undersize rod bearings.

Whats the chances of finding a manufacturer to make rod bearings once they are discontinued?

Yeah I've been looking for a set to put in the 89; sucks....RA had used to have the set for like $50 and I can't find them anywhere else. Oh well, Just paid the effing $35 premium....at least I'll have some, ugh. James must've gotten the last full set because they had them the other day; now like Hamal said, down to 1 (bearing not set). Can't afford to take the risk of hoping more are manufactured; not with a car that has a 255k motor on original bearings.

This makes me think about the future. If there is no rod bearings then eventually all SHOs will be non exhistant. I think I should really buy a set otherwise years from now when I spin a bearing ill be screwed. No more rebuilds. Just blow up a motor and put another one in.

I talked myself into buying a set of bearings before they are all gone.
