I will be doing my 60K this summer because i dont know if it has ever been done on my SHO. I was wondering a few things before I get started. Just need some advice.

Parts I have already replaced:

Belts(MTX)
Waterpump
Upper, lower rad. hoses
Batt.

Parts I will be replacing:

o2's
CPS
Timing Belt
Valve cover gasket set w/plug well gaskets
Alternator
plugs
wires

Parts im not sure about:

Why is it importand to adjust the valves? Am i correct when I say they are a Hyd/Flat tappet design? If so, shouldnt they adjust with oil pressure and as they wear, or do they wear to a point that they need to be shimmed?

Am I missing anything else important?

Thanks for the help guys,

Jeff

Or Call Bill and I were doing or 12th sometime in the next month. And **** I'll do one on a spare engine just for fun if you want to see one. Takes about an hour... But informative.

Solid bucket tappets, which use shims that are a lesser hardness than the cam lobes so they will wear instead of the cam lobes.

Why are you replacing the alternator? It is generally not a 60K maintenance item, and if it's failing now, you need to replace it now or you're going to ruin the new battery you've installed.

Its flaky, every once in a while(week) the batt. light will come on for about a min or two. A supplier of mine rebuilds alternators and said he can up the amprage a bit to help out the needs of the stereo. Ill do it while im in there. I also need to replace the AC compressor and lines but that is way expensive
