Ok so let me explain, I barely drive her - '14 with 28k on her, and that hasn't changed in several months. I have been using the last several years:

Valvoline Full Synthetic SAE 5W-30 Engine Oil
I have never done an oil study with Blackstone, I am going to send out my current used Valvoline oil to Blackstone - though I am NOT at 5K total miles, but to get a baseline.

Then I am filling her up with Amsoil after all the hype to see how much or equal it is to Valvoline which is less expensive for sure.

I will be using the same Ford OEM filter between changes, to keep filtration out of it.

However don't expect fast results since to be honest I am not hitting the maximum intervals for severe changes 5K, btw I am a severe driver - constantly pushing her - for example this past Sunday a drive along A1A, for 40 minutes at 30-40 miles per hour, to an I-95 return over 100 mph for 10-15 minutes. Peaking 130 for a few seconds.

So the oil will be happening soon, but I am far from the ideal Oil tester, I change more frequently than most more like 2500 miles, it sits long periods of time without being driven, and when I do - unfortunately I bash the **** out of her.

PS - my trying Amsoil is because of the cult like response they have driven up over marketing. I asked Amsoil if they would share any third party testing of their products that were performed independently:

Wow it looks like that O’Reilly synthetic oil it’s pretty damn good, but I’ll pay the extra for the royal purple XPS, which I’ve been using since the car was new.

@SM105K got my oil report back, some concerning news... however it is with Valvoline Full Synthetic.

Update - so I replaced the oil with Amsoil. I will be replacing it early as well. I reported 3k on the Valvoline, however I was sloppy and didn't provide an accurate mileage. Look at me gonna spin a bearing....

Any thoughts from the old timers on the copper in the oil?

I would personally do a flush oil change with the Amsoil for about 500 miles. Drain it, and then refill it with new Amsoil. Spendy I know. However, you will not be able to get all of the Valvoline out of the car and the residual will mix with the Amsoil and you will not get a complete picture of what is happening. If you do a 500 mile flush, change the oil, and run it another 3k mile, you will see a better picture.

No problem, I would also look at the Pennzoil Plat Plus for your car as well. Super good oil, and pretty cost effective as well. I run it in my Focus ST and in the CLS 63 S.

I change my oil every 100 hours, (we have ecoboost police interceptors). Which is the actual way a fleet does it..

So like @SM105K said about extra oil changes - *The release of copper sulfides into the oil will then begin to slow considerably or stop altogether. It can take several oil changes for this to occur."

So this car has had several coolant changes in its short life. I have had a flush, changed thermostat - had a transmission from Ford replaced, then recently IC changed. That all being said - sounds like some quick changes then watch.

Thanks @SHOdded for that blog very insightful. Keeping my fingers crossed.

@SM105K , if it was in the thread I didn't catch it, BUT, on one of the forums I posted a picture of the front of my engine when I did the waterpump and related items. I've had the vehicle as a daily since around 36k mi and it was in the 120k mi range when I did the work. I have dealer access and it had regular oil changes in service history prior to me buying it as it was on a 3yr lease.

To the point, I've ran Royal Purple exclusively since purchasing with 4-5k mile change intervals and the inside of my engine had a yellow tint like varnish. I've always had good reports with Blackstone. A member where I had posted the picture, possibly here, posted pics of his engine internals with similar miles and it was clean aluminum using Mobile 1 in his case. Any insight to the color discrepancy between the two? My average commute is 50 mi/day, 50/50 highway/city so the engine is at temperature.

Honestly it could be the color additive in the Royal Purple. I have never been a fan personally. I like the pale color of the oils that I have used, just for the fact I can see if the oil is dirty. It could also be the detergent package that is different between the two as well.
