I did, but that is just an article stating what the each website states.@SM105K might want to take a read... https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/ent...otor-oil-brands-for-turbo-engines/ar-AA1iQiDQ
Thanks for the advice!I would personally do a flush oil change with the Amsoil for about 500 miles. Drain it, and then refill it with new Amsoil. Spendy I know. However, you will not be able to get all of the Valvoline out of the car and the residual will mix with the Amsoil and you will not get a complete picture of what is happening. If you do a 500 mile flush, change the oil, and run it another 3k mile, you will see a better picture.
No problem, I would also look at the Pennzoil Plat Plus for your car as well. Super good oil, and pretty cost effective as well. I run it in my Focus ST and in the CLS 63 S.Thanks for the advice!
Our friend from YT also recommends it. MehalkoNo problem, I would also look at the Pennzoil Plat Plus for your car as well. Super good oil, and pretty cost effective as well. I run it in my Focus ST and in the CLS 63 S.
def too high ... can be new parts breaking in or from cooling hardware also ...@SM105K got my oil report back, some concerning news... however it is with Valvoline Full Synthetic.
Update - so I replaced the oil with Amsoil. I will be replacing it early as well. I reported 3k on the Valvoline, however I was sloppy and didn't provide an accurate mileage. Look at me gonna spin a bearing....
Any thoughts from the old timers on the copper in the oil?
So like @SM105K said about extra oil changes - *The release of copper sulfides into the oil will then begin to slow considerably or stop altogether. It can take several oil changes for this to occur."def too high ... can be new parts breaking in or from cooling hardware also ...
diesel but you get the idea

Honestly it could be the color additive in the Royal Purple. I have never been a fan personally. I like the pale color of the oils that I have used, just for the fact I can see if the oil is dirty. It could also be the detergent package that is different between the two as well.@SM105K , if it was in the thread I didn't catch it, BUT, on one of the forums I posted a picture of the front of my engine when I did the waterpump and related items. I've had the vehicle as a daily since around 36k mi and it was in the 120k mi range when I did the work. I have dealer access and it had regular oil changes in service history prior to me buying it as it was on a 3yr lease.
To the point, I've ran Royal Purple exclusively since purchasing with 4-5k mile change intervals and the inside of my engine had a yellow tint like varnish. I've always had good reports with Blackstone. A member where I had posted the picture, possibly here, posted pics of his engine internals with similar miles and it was clean aluminum using Mobile 1 in his case. Any insight to the color discrepancy between the two? My average commute is 50 mi/day, 50/50 highway/city so the engine is at temperature.
