For the record, I am seeing high Calcium VOA levels with the oil a lot of the AMG guys recommend as well.

Looks like I will be moving over to Castrol Edge Euro Car formula rather quickly from my research.

Ouch Castro? I’ve seen VW diesel engines apart that ran the OEM oil made by Castrol, not as clean and there’s scoring on the camshaft……but not with Amsoil in a VW diesel. Guys at the VW dealers can’t believe it, and they’ve seen it all.

Lol......I used Castrol Edge in my SHO for almost the lifetime of my ownership. Zero issues. Nothing out of the ordinary on wear ect. Clearly you didn't see my post questioning AMSOIL with facts........so I digress.

Is that you Ryan Selcer?

Amsoil people are so annoying. If it was really the bee's knees it would be in everything.

Amsoil facts and tests are all on the Amsoil website……sure, attack the person when you don’t really know what you’re talking about, classic differ to something else.

Fuel Shark has all of their "facts and tests" on their website, too. "Differ?"

Additives are great, but really I'd love to see how the additives effect a TFOUT test on the oils in question. Blackstone is an awesome really reliable method to see what all it contains and I love how they explain things pretty thoroughly. Realistically how oils perform on a standardized test that goes over oil break down is where I start to compare oils. I use BG MOA in every gasoline powered vehicle I own. Disclaimer, I am a BG rep, but this is something that regardless of my profession I will continue to use in my vehicles. These are all standardized tests and repeatable by anyone in the industry. More expensive doesn't exactly equate to more better. Some thing to also think about is are you going to expend the additives before you are going to change the oil anyways?

In that ASTM D4742, Amsoil tested to 500 minutes and they stopped the test because it wouldn’t fail, and kept going, far surpassing all the other oils. Those other oils “need” BG additive to not even be close. Lol

Talking broadly here about oils and not making a comparing to any specific off the shelf oils. My point stands about depletion of additive package before interval of changing.

Mobile 1 was introduced in 1974. A lot of manufacturers spec it for their cars. How many recommend Amsoil? Answer = none.
Not really a good way of deciding what best, it’s all about price when it comes to the OEMs, but as long as you’re mind set is that way……..how many oil manufacturers replaced the ATF in a fleet of taxi cabs in Las Vegas driving 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, only shutting off the engine to fuel and change drivers, racking up 100,000+ miles……disassembled the transmissions and found bare minimal wear? No other oil company will do that with their oils. Oh, they did the engine oil too every 15,000 miles, with the same results. Amsoil has the data, and these real world tests that nobody else does, because they know Amsoil will beat them.

30 years ago I didn’t even believe in synthetics, working at a parts store, until Valvoline introduced their DuraBlend oils, when I got to be thinking…….then when my buddy showed me his Polaris snowmobile engine since he used the Amsoil Saber 2 cycle oil and there was zero carbon buildup and the cleanest 2 cycle engine inside you’ve ever seen…..this was back when snowmobile manufacturers didn’t have a handle on 2 stroke emissions yet, so they all burned very dirty and left a lot of deposits behind, except those using Amsoil. Fast forward 5 years and I bought my first VW diesel, no oil company made a compatible 505.00 spec oil, so I was forced to choose a full synthetic motor oil, and 25 years later with 425k on my VW diesel it’s like new inside. And yes, being in the VW world all this time I’ve seen plenty of oils and what effect they have on an engine.
