Transmission: 5-Speed MTX
Title: Clean in hand

✅ Background

Picked this up in January 2025 thinking it would be a fun project, but we mainly build VW diesels and already have too many other projects. This SHO has a lot of history and some high-end parts.

I even reached out to SHOsource, and they believe this car might have originally belonged to Mike Frazier. If you search his name here on SHOforum, you might find more details that line up with the build.

✅ Build Highlights (from previous owner & confirmed parts)

Yamaha 3.0L V6 with 3.2 parts

3.2 heads, ported intake & exhaust manifolds

Big-bore butterfly valves

Forged internals with ARP head studs (per original build list)

SHOsource performance cam

Stage 2 clutch kit, aluminum flywheel, LSD diff

Carbon fiber hood & trunk (Advancarbon Technologies)

Stainless steel exhaust w/ high-flow cats → Flowmaster 440s

Fresh bushings, bearings, drilled/slotted rotors

Joe’s SHO short throw shifter (needs attention)

Halo Illumiglo gauges

Double-din Pioneer Bluetooth touchscreen, pre-wired for subs

Custom engraved parts & true cowl hood

Extra parts included:

Two 3.0 heads

Four valve covers

Coil packs

Misc small parts & powered intake still in packaging

Timing kit

---

✅ Condition / Needs

Motor has a ticking sound, Previous owner said needs valve shims installed

Shifter spins freely, needs to be fixed/replaced

Body: Rust-free, carbon hood & trunk need refinishing (clear coat faded)

Interior: Typical wear for 197k leather, but new headliner & new carpet, dash in great shape

---

Reference Info

This car has SHOsource history, possibly tied to Mike Frazier’s name.
YouTube video for reference (different car, but related):

Price: $2,450 OBO

Cash only. PM me here for more details or pictures.

This SHO has some serious history and a lot of work already done — perfect for someone who knows these cars and wants to bring it back to its full potential.

Tyler and his brother showed me around this car on video chat. It is a beautiful build, old, but very capable. He and his brother seem genuine. They showed me everything I asked for, and then some. Welcome guys! To help out, more photos can be seen here: https://shoforum.com/threads/looking-for-history-on-my-new-’93-sho-carbon-hood-trunk-car-vin-1falp54y1pa142129.147554/
Yes, this is true!! Thank you so much for pointing out the photos, I was on the airplane and I uploaded all of them. I don't even think they all loaded!

✅ Condition / Needs

Runs and drives fine, but once warm it stumbles/misfires slightly

Previous owner said needs shims installed

Could also be ECU cold solder joints

Some suggest the Crown Vic MAF might be too big

maybe the issue you have is the CCRM that is installed. J code is for ATX car, M code is for 93 MTX. do you know the code of the engine computer, X2J?

It doesn't start rough. Would the CCRM allow for that? I was thinking since the car previously had a blower, and possibly a different ECU, that possibly the MAF sensor may be too large. With this theory, because the engine is rich when started, it would actually be running a fuel to air ratio that is near normal or even slightly lean (too much air, near sufficient fuel). Once the engine warmed up, the fuel would further lean out, and start to starve the engine.

It is worth maybe buying a used one to try. How big is the MAF? IIRC oem is 55mm

Does the pcm have a performance chip in the back port? You can drop the glove box and the rear is visible

The MAF is probably part of the issue. I tried 2 larger diameter aftermarket MAF's with custom tune, and neither worked out. The stock 55mm works great.

We found the issue thanks to Mike Frazier, OG owner.
We took the ICM and put some spacers on it to space it out from the intake manifold, and it seems to be driving perfectly now!! No misfire issues when warm, she drives great!!
