A lot has happened since the last update.
I got a TwEECer RT, but it didn't come with the switch cable, so I ordered that.
I began the search for long tube headers, though they are very rare. I talked to Mike at ShoSource and he didn't have any, however, he did have a set of mock headers AND the jigs to build them. We settled on a price and he was game! Anybody need some fabricated?
It'll be some time before fabrication and install, but it was one of those things I expected to be searching for some time for and I ended up being in the right place at the right time.
There are a lot of electrical bugs with the car such as an alternator wine and some loose grounding.
Also it has been running very warm. Upwards of past the N a couple times, but not to overheated range. Too hot for me. I'm now going through the cooling system & wiring and simplifying things. The radiator has some age to it and so I went and purchased an all aluminum radiator, which I'll be installing this week. As well replacing the big battery/alternator cable which ironically is right where the mice originally got into the car before I got it, which happened several years ago.
I did go ahead and change the thermostat and both temp sensors, only to find no change in temperature. Upon further inspection, the radiator fan (ATX, so two fans) is only half working. It looks as though some wire crimps came loose and shorted, so that'll be repaired as well and is likely the issue. There is also a bunch of semi broken plugs and miscellaneous partly used wiring harness plugs that'll need some better organization under the hood. Also there are a number of non-weather proof crimps under the hood, and relays that'll need replaced with their weatherproof versions for when there is an occasional nasty day.

If you have suggestions, please offer

Had a chance to finally drive a bit more prior to replacing the radiator with the new thermostat, and temp sensors. Looks like the culprit was a stuck thermostat. Now instead of hovering near and a bit past the "N", we're safely around the "M" after burping the system.

Aluminum radiator in. Flushed system once with distilled water, once with distilled water & Prestone radiator flush (I don't work for them), one more flush with distilled water, then after that. I don't trust using a hose w/ tap water, because the county I live in has some of the hardest water... fagedaboudid (Mickey Blue Eyes reference). I found something that may or may not be a good idea... a leaf blower with a very particular upside-down-ish hand-funnel like grasp into the radiator tank to evacuate the system out the drain. I then filled it with Prestone concentrate with, of course, a 50/50 mix with (you guessed it) distilled water. The Prestone concentrate seemed like the logical (and less superstitious) choice.

To ensure each flush was sufficiently mixed, I'd take the SHO on a spirited drive around a 5ish mile radius near my house. The exception was when using the radiator flush, which spent a few days and a few spirited drives.

One thing I forgot once or twice: empty the radiator overflow. Your purring SHO will thank you.

I probably did something wrong, please point it out. The most recent drive, with the new radiator fluid, and with all electrical issues solved, was fantastic. The raw power, the fun. The previous owner really put a lot of hard work into the car and you can absolutely tell.

I had a BMW SUV that was absolutely decked out with upgrades and an amazing exhaust overtake me when I was just cruising. I gunned it, but was in the wrong gear & rpm, and although I hung near him, with the momentum he already had, he pulled away slowly... Also, I like the speed limit too much. Every time he let off the exhaust, I heard "SNAP SNAP SNAP".

I'm really not into that scene. I'm more into enjoying a nostalgic thoroughbred that never fails to put a smile on my face. The look, the feel, of authentic SHO.

I'm not trying to cast shade. But if it ain't Yamaha...
