I have the JVC Kamelon HU. IMO it's the niecst looking HU for ther SHO. It looks like it came with the car and when the car is off, it's completly flat and black. I love it.
My friend has a Sony one like that and I hate it. But only because you HAVE to use the remote to control anything. On the chameleon do you need the remote?

No, you dont have to use the remtoe. I have one that came with it and I never use it. I cant imgaine only being able to use the remtoe to control the HU, it seems dangerous.

I recently had a Clarion DXZ545MP (lowest in their ProAudio line) deck installed and the shop told me that the dash mounted controls could be made to work, but it would cost another $60 for the part. At the time I just wanted it installed, but I'll eventually go back for that.

BTW according to the installer, the dash controls will work because the HU has remote control capabilities (I don't know if he was referring to the IR remote or some kind of hard-wired remote, but...). I'm assuming the same would go for any HU with similar capabilities. Don't quote me on it though :thumb:

alpine or bust, dude...

I had an CDA 9813 in my SHO, but when I took it off the road, ishodu bought it off me....we bypassed the amps and it sounds pretty good for 10 year old speakers.

my new deck in my GTI is a CDA-9833. I love alpine decks...won't use anything else...

if anything, alpines are all go and no show. I don't like their styles, but their performance, quality, and reliability simply make their not-so-cute HU the ultimate buy. :thumb:

Nah, that title is held by Nakamichi. Alpines look clean, I don't need flashy graphics, just text. Eclipse have gotten ugly too and they're good HU, I used to have one before their drastic redesign. Yuck.
