Glad to see someone else taking up on the "WPC Treatment".

I know my own engine builder recommended it VERY HIGHLY, and raved about how well it has performed in the Import market/arena.

Nice investment!

I have to give you the credit for it. I had heard of it and wasn't sure about it til you started using it.

So can you see or feel a difference?

Ok sorry... So many questions.

Anything else besides the gear faces? Did they do the rollers in the bearings as well? I'm assuming they didn't just do the whole part.

There's a different dynamic at work with roller bearings (as opposed to gears meshing), correct?

The entire thing was done, bearing and all. I was unable to pull that bearing off without destroying it, so after contacting them, they said they can do roller bearings as well, but prefer to have them removed if possible.

This is phenomenal information!! I am going to cross reference this over at EcoboostPerformanceForum.com unless you want to start a thread over there too?

Is that a seal at the bottom of the bearing? If so will it be a problem with wpc?

Do you plan to reinforce the case in any way? That was one of the weak links of the T5. Case would spread once you put in stronger internals.

Jim.
That was exactly Matt’s thought, from GH. Once you start getting your power numbers up there, case flex opening up the tolerance between gears.

Interesting theory.

Wasn't a theory on the 75lb T5's! You made sure you had a few from the pick and pull in your garage. Since they were in T-birds, Mustangs and Rangers, you could find them readily. May not be the 5.0 spec gear set and torque ratings, but cheap backups were a good thing.

Short of finding somebody who could machine a billet housing (hey, anything is possible with enough money thrown at it right?), the only way I've thought to address this is from the cryo process, which is the next step for this thing. I don't have any hard data on how much stronger it could make it, but there are claims that it is somewhat effective. Idk...tbh I'm kinda in uncharted territory here. It may all be for naught, but I'm willing to be the one who takes the hit for the community, lol. If it didn't do anything, I'll tell you guys it was a waste and I'll be a sad panda.

But if it works, you can believe i will revel in the glory, lol...

Do you plan to have that thing back together this year, Xsport? Cause I for one am looking forward to that bad Explorer crushing some quarters.

I'm really trying but not sure...Im doing a few mods at a time while keeping it on the road. When I get this PTU together, I'll likely still not install it until my motor is done being built (yes, I have one getting done right now too, lol), but it's a slow process. I've got it running right now but it's just running on mild tuning as I still have to install a ton of parts that are sitting on the shelf right now.

Just a small update. I know the idea of using a small reservoir was being thrown around and that gave me an idea. I had this thing laying around and it was originally going to be used for my meth tank to be filled remotely. I got it from ProMeth. I've since gone to a different meth tank and never used this but it looks perfect for what will be done:

I am also about to extend that vent hose, but...PLOT TWIST...will NOT be connecting it to the reservoir. I'm just going to extend it up higher, just to be higher, LOL. But what I WILL be doing is....drilling for another hose fitting. After reading about how long it can take to get the fluid down the vent hose. I figured the air is just fighting you, but if there was another line..it would be WAY easier. Not only that, but the hose fitting at the bottom of that reservoir allows for a slightly larger hose to be used. I'm going with 1/2" on it. with a 1/2" hose barb fitting.

This photo shows me mocking up where it will go, but that isn't the actual fitting I will use, the actual one will be smaller and stainless...

See...plenty of room inside the PTU for it:

Anyway, should facilitate fluid changes more easy. I'll update when I get closer.

That is why I ran the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe T-5 trans. They were geared awesome and if you killed it, they were cheap to replace.
