Has anyone changed theirs? I would like something with Android Auto. From what I've seen online I believe there are aftermarket solutions. I don't care about losing satellite radio (I don't use it) or navigation if Android Auto works.

My Bluetooth/inputs are finicky. Some days they work perfect but other days they appear to work, but won't play any sound. As in, I can see that my phone is connected, the song is displayed on the screen, I can skip tracks, make/receive calls, the whole nine yards.... The problem is there is absolutely no sound output whatsoever. I bought an auxiliary cable and confirmed that it works fully (on a good day). BUT on the days that this stereo is finicky it doesn't work either... Same issue. I see it connected, everything appears to work, with the absence of any sound. I've tried rebooting my phone and the stereo, unsyncing/resyncing, resetting the Sync system, and pulling the battery. All with the same result. Some days it works 100% and other days, it connects but won't play any sound via Bluetooth or aux input.

I need to hunt down my CD's as I haven't used them in years. So none of the music I have would be current, assuming the CD player even works. My only other option for music on days that the inputs won't work is the radio. I'd rather not subscribe to satellite radio as I already have premium Pandora and Spotify accounts. I tried putting some music on a USB and inserting it with no luck. I guess that's only for installing Sync updates.

So that brings me back to replacing the stereo. Anyone done this with any luck? I'm not married to Sync so as long as I don't lose any basic functions of the car I'm ok not having it. I do want to keep the 8" touch screen and do prefer Android Auto although that's not a deal breaker as long as I can reliably stream BT.

2010-12s have a dash kit but it is expensive as it has to integrate other functions as well. You cannot swap MFT or SYNC3. There maybe some iphone adapters out there. Try giving crutchfield a call.

Can you link the dash kit? I haven't found anything online about it. I did talk to Crutchfield and they don't have anything to offer aside from replacing speakers.

Yeah. You’re in the same boat I am with our 2012 Mustang. It has factory nav that’s basically identical to the 10-12 Taurus, and there is absolutely nothing that fits our Mustang. That’s why I never bothered with a stereo. Wish I had some suggestions for you, but I doubt there’s gonna be anything new developed for cars this old with the relatively rare factory nav, and you can’t do a home hack job because of the integrated climate controls. The only bright point is the stereo has a decent amount of power, unlike the 2013+ Sony system, so if you add aftermarket speakers and a sub, it sounds decent.

So I googled the # for Ford's Sync support and called a few days ago. I explained that my phone consistently connects to Sync but at least half of the time I can't hear any audio. I explained all the troubleshooting steps I'd already performed and here's what they had me do:

- with the car running, turn it off.
- open the driver's door
- lock the doors
- shut the driver's door
- wait 2 full minutes
- crank the car

I reluctantly followed the steps and, of course, the stereo worked fine when we finished. I informed him that it works 50% of the time anyway so that's probably why it's working now. He insisted the issue would be fixed now and advised me to call back if I have any more issues.

~~knock on wood~~
Today is day 3 and so far the stereo has connected to my phone AND played audio every single time I've tried since I called him. The issue appears to be corrected. I'll report back if I have any more issues.
