when i first bought my 98 about 6 months ago, i had experienced the engine climbing gradually at idle all the way up to 3 grand. then after being up there about 10 seconds or so, would drop all the way back down to a perfect idle.
It seems to be something computer controlled because it does i very slowly and precisely.
I only had this happen a few times until it just faded away and i forgot all about it. Untill just the other day....
I got in, start it up, and it died immediately after. I nothing of it until i started it again and realized that my rpms were very erratic. it would jump up and fall to about 500 rpms, then catch itself and jump again. it kept doing this until it gradually stabalized right in the miiddle.
Sometimes if it feels like its going to act up, i can hit the gas just a little bit and it will almost **** when dropping back down to idle, but never does.

It seems to be a daily issue now, any ideas are appreciated.

Your problem is the classic TPS problem. Ford has a TSB for the '98s and there is a kit available to re-wire the TPS connector. Here's some reading for you:
