Robert Lushey, Engineering and Operations manager at Helix AutoSport (UK) (they manufacture clutches and flywheels) has taken on the task of engineering clutches for our Ford 6F55 transmission to increase torque capacity anywhere from 60-80% with a mixture of copper/Kevlar material. I’m sending Robert my drum with the clutch packs from my record setting 6F55 trans with 76k, that I’ve been saving for something special…..I think Helix is it.

Once Robert is able to break down what materials are currently used he can then let me know how Helix will be able to upgrade them and what they’ll be doing. He mentioned doing extra clutches and doing a billet drum to make aggressive friction clutches more streetable.

I’m excited to find out what they can do. A link to check out their website. https://helixautosport.com/products/ They’re also on FB and IG. Nobody here in America has stepped up so…..the search doesn’t stop, it broadens. A forum member (don’t remember his forum name) but his first name Marinus linked me up with Robert @Helix_AutoSport. Marinus searched high and low everywhere. He’s the guy talking about getting clutches made out of the Ukraine, but the Ukraine is in need of Kevlar at the moment. I’ll update with his forum name when he tells me. Great find @Mahu24!

Update. I felt like I opened up Pandora’s box when I removed the clutch packs. D8AE5173 CD3B 4F76 B1FB 72458E9F84A458A86215 B5D1 4679 B26B 1E8E6EE534C5
The snap ring for the 3-5-R drum/basket came out easy 907C05BB 72FF 4E99 8262 7BE4B54AD435

I had to reestablish my Unishippers account for a much cheaper rate to send this out to Helix AutoSport all the way over in the UK. Packaged in the box it weighs 50lbs. Just dropped it off.

It begins!

Definitely watching this thread.
I recently contacted Raybestos about their Stage 1 Friction Clutch Pack and this was their response:

“We recommend contacting our distributor WIT so they can place an order for you to ensure you receive product once it is made.
https://wittrans.com/New_part-new.php?part=rcps-56
It has been released to our distributors for purchase. There is none in stock at this time.”

Even WIT doesn’t think it makes any sense to list a part for sale that doesn’t exist. I’m all in with Helix AutoSport at this point. And I won’t touch anything from Raybestos if they release something after the fact.

I'm hoping this goes better than my attempt at getting Raybestos on board. Helix seems like a great company.

For the less informed, what does this give the average SHO owner? By the way, one of the biggest bangs for the buck for my Marauder was when I installed a Precision Industries' high-stall torque-converter onto its stock Ford 4R70W transmission—a really noticeable SOTP performance-gain. Anyone here install an aftermarket TC on their Gen4 SHOs?

It will allow more of a power transfer through the transmission.

As for the TC, yes...there are many out there that have installed the GH TC.
