What octane fuel are you using? It could be spark knock. Although you should change your rod bearings now anyway.

Meh, the cheapest. i think 89 or 87. whatever it is... has been for the past 5 or 6 years. havent had a problem, with soaring gas prices i doubt i will be putting anything higher in.. mayby medium if i have spare change.

Start with the bearings anyways. Due to the age of them it cant hurt at all.

If the knocking continues.

Search one of the half a million threads about knocking SHOs and if you dont find what you need, post another thread, OR upadate this one!

I would try a tank of higher octane gas. And see what happens. But like was said with the age your bearings prolly need the attention too.
