Did anyone else here reading his post catch that the shop supposedly did his clutch in 3.5 hours? I know that I've pulled a couple trannies from SHOs in my day, and the fact that I work slow and take breaks. But the quickest I ever did R&R on a tranny way a full day. Granted that's without a lift and working slow, but I've done it before. If this was some random shop that's never dealt with MTX SHO's before I can't see how they got it done...

If I was you, while taking apart the car, I'd check to see if they even installed a new clutch. Maybe they did, and in their haste of doing it caused damage to your engine.

I've pulled a trans out in about a 1 1/2hrs before... and put it back in, in about the same time.

If this place has had any FWD cars come in, im sure they know how to get it done. And with a couple guys working on it on a lift. It could be possible.

Ditto, on the new clutch part. Ask if they used loctite... everywhere.

I would certainly talk to the shop in a forceful way about this. When you said that the transmission was not aligned with the engine, bells went off in my head regarding the addition stresses put on the drivetrain that more than likely caused this problem.

Unfortunate situation. I certainly hope the shp takes care of you.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I appreciate it a lot! I am going to the shop today to give them a chance to play fair, and if not, the BBB has an office only a few miles from my home! I couldn't believe it was done in 3.5 hours at first, especially because it drove so good the first day, but then noises and rattles set in soon after and it has been a nightmare since. They said they have done over a 100 SHOs (all gen.'s) in the past two years, but with the job they did on mine, I feel terrified to know somebody else may be going through what I am. Anyway, thanks for the replies and I will check back in later with what happens today.

Is that part of the tranny broken off? If so, where did it break?

Yep, it is the upper front portion of the oil pan, which is one of three broken pieces. I plan on pulling it this weekend, so watch for the pics, they are quite horrid! As far as the tranny shop goes, they said they would cover 1/2 of the price of a USED engine if I brought down the clutch assembly and they could verify damage from being misaligned. We'll see what happens with that.
