It really shouldn't be that hard to get over 300whp with 12:1+ pistons despite what some people think. Especially if you have the top end to support it. This WILL be my next SHO build so I am definitely looking forward to seeing your results.

I figured 12:1 is still streetable with a 93/100 octane mix. But its either keep it streetable or take it off the streets completely and go just full retard with 14:1 compression and c16 in the tank.

If 300hp is possible at the wheels with race gas, I'd love to see it. Do the impossible, Zach. You are certainly heads above where you started here. Excellent. :thumb:

If you are gonna be into it that far, why not do a 3.4 setup like John Hrinsin did with his '95?? I can't remember his Forum name, but I could give you his email in a PM if you are interested.

I drove his car at Gingerman a few years ago (now owned by Jim Heaton in Houston). IMO, his was the "best" n/a SHO I ever drove. Responded like a stock SHO, but with MORE.......

But wouldn't you want the timing to be...oh, wait. I get it. :)

Didnt he use rods from a different motor? Cause i know you cant go any bigger on the bore.

Hrinsin's motor was a 3.2L with an offset ground crank, SBC rods and a 48mm honda sized journals. I drove it at Putnam in '05 and it was a great car/great motor.

Look at this, little Zach is all grown up! I think you put more into the thought process of your SHO than I do. As everyone has said, I'm really interested in where this goes!

I dont want to go 10.6:1 everyone else has gone 10.6:1. Thats not really that high of compression and wont show much gain for 850$. And if i was to go 10.6:1 its going to cost the same as going 12:1. 132$ a piston. So with that being said i can only really save money if i kept the 92mm bore skipped the machining and just threw in some pistons. but i cant do that anymore unless i get another block now. so i might as well go 3.3. I need to do some research and expand my knowledge which im really looking forward to. This is less of a plain out horsepower build and more of a assemble my first motor and learn.
This car has done nothing but teach me things and i want to expand that even more.

Its not being the fastest or winning races or any of that that pushes me to spend the money. The quarter mile times, and all that is just a bonus. The reward is definitly the knowledge that i gained to put me where i am.

So today I tore it down to the block.

Lol I made 244fwhp with 2 messed up cylinders. Looks like im getting another 3.2 block.
I bought this motor from Mark N. and it has been a great motor but its trashed. Rod bearings and main bearings looked fantastic though. ALMOST NEW.

Here is a video of the cylinders.

So now the plan is to do one of two things. Find a Company who can manufacture a custom headgasket to allow a 3.4 or maybe a 3.5l bore. OR find another 3.2 block to punch out to a 3.3l and then reassemble.

IIRC Doug at FPS was selling a copper head gasket he was getting custom made. For what it's worth I had a confirmed 93 3.0 block, (that is supposed to be the same casting as the 3.2 block) sonic tested by my engine builder to machine to 93mm and it failed. Not to say that I didn't maybe get a left over older block from the factory, but what I'm getting at is there really isn't much meat to go much more than 93mm on these blocks. That 3.4 you hear about was bore and stroke.

You have to understand ghost 3.0 blocks are not the same. you can bore a 3.0 to a 3.2, but IIRC you cant bore a 3.0 to a 3.3. you have to have a 3.2 block to have a 93mm bore.

Ok well I went out there to do some measurements.

It appears where the head gasket sat I can bore out 2mm over the 92mm bore. That leaves 4mm of material before the water jackets. I think for the safe factor I am going to just get this other block and stay with a 93mm bore. The only other thing I would do if retain the 92mm bore and throw in the pistons but the piston to wall clearance is supposed to be .004. So I am kind of weary about throwing in pistons for a 92mm bore and having looser clearances and having piston slap or something.
If any one had any takes on this with their 3.2l builds it would be appreciated.
