Great job on the supercharger and all. But I don't understand what you're losing if one of us copies it if you're not planning on making lots of these. I see where if a company were to copy it and sell it how you would be screwed. I'm 16, have welding skills, but I'm not too much for the engineering department. What would you lose if I were to copy your manifold design?

It's copy-righted from what I understand. Thus why he stated that it would require $5k (i believe) to reproduce the product. Anyhing that share characteristics of the product my be questionable by the authorities. Then again, i may be wrong...

The only way you are copying that manifold exactly is if you get his CAD off of him, which I highly doubt will happen. Why not take a look at his plans, and exactly what you want to do with it, maybe you want it intercooled? Then some changes to the plans must be done, it is no longer copyright infringement if your intake manifold is quiet a bit diffrent. I like the whole intercooled idea, kinda how Tom (Off Road SHO) has his buggy blown. He has the blower sitting upside down, making it WAY easier to setup a intercooler on. This isn't going to be a simple or short project. You'll have lots of time into it, so spend sometime planning it out. Also I'd pick up injectors and a fuel pump at least, good luck. :thumb:

Actually I just rotated the blower 90 degrees clockwise, but you're right, it will be easier for cooling the charged air. Troy at Modern Auto is doing a wonderful job at fabbing up the IAC, pop-off valve and throttle body.

I've got to give props to SHOnuff93 though for attempting a machining project of this magnatude (spelling??). Machinists are my heros. :hail:

ahh comeone with all of this copy right stuff its not like this is a civic or something where hundreds could easly be sold were talking about a taurus SHO where we would be lucky to see 3 or 4 more boosted cars next season, if you are serously going to sell these than I retract my statement.

All of this copywrite bull-poo is starting to make me sick :smash:

It is a box sitting on chopped down runners for gosh sake!
If you are going to SC you car, JUST DO IT. Dont let the copywrite crap keep you from doing it. There are SO many ways to avoid infringement simply by methods and materials of creating such an intake.

Not to be mean or start anything, I think it's a killer idea but how are you gonna sell a product that is so high off the block that you can't use your standard hood (or even a cowl for that matter) and can hardly see over out the windsheild. There's going to have to be some kind of change made in the design if you plan to resell a product like that. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see some numbers.

in his defence it is the first prototype/design and I believe he said at the beginning he said he just made this for himself and did not origionally intend to make these. I don't really know why the copyright thing got brought up, kind of a **** joy.

It's a one of a kind setup. Big props for makin' it. No matter what, if someone makes one simular there's no way they could be trampling on his copy right and even if by some random chance copied it in it's entirity, he would have to verify it and file suit. It's not gonna happen so don't worry about it. Great job on a sweet project. I would be intrested in knowing the patent number to see exactly what's been registered and protected.

I drove the car to a bar one night and had a guy come up to me asking about it. He saw pics of it on a mustang cobra website. The internet is a wacky thing.

That is exactly what I envisioned when I suggested that! :dribble:

Nice link! :thumb:

i'm seriously thinking of trying this.

just a quick idea, maybe my reasoning is off but here goes:
now say someone (aka: me) didnt want to go nuts on the boost, just add a little punch, say 5-8 psi, if the blower was underdriven so that at peak rpm it made 8psi (which is 4 psi under the stock max) you wouldnt run into any issues from spinning the rotors too high, right?
also, with it making less boost, it wouldnt come on as hard and as quick.

this is hypothetical but: how am i doing here?
