White smoke from underhood, not tailpipe?

Hey, I have a known valve cover gasket leak and plug well seal leak, however, after driving about 120 miles last night, as I was pulling back into the driveway, I noticed a large amount of white smoke coming from under the hood. Went to bed. This morning, overflow tank is empty (not sure where it was yesterday), no signs or bhg, basically I need to do a coolant system pressure test and a compression test and see what's wrong? It's probably either a BHG or radiator end tank, correct? Also, where is a value priced temp sensor to be found? My temp gauge doesn't work

The water pump is probably leaking onto the cat causing the white cloud. You definately need to get a working temp gauge on the car.

Okay, good news on the white smoke front...it is definitely almost certainly NOT the water pump. The smoke is coming from the driver's side near the radiator. I am going to do a coolant system pressure test and try to determine where exactly the leak is coming from. I had the car running and up to temp, the water remained in the reserve tank all night, so that is not the problem. However, smoke did appear from around the driver's side of the radiator, not very much, but definitely the same smoke. I think it might be the end tank for the radiator?

Some idiots (before I bought the car) had replaced the thermostat (driver's side, inside a metal casing connected to hosed right under the throttle body) on mine and messed it up. They sealed it somehow with goop.

Of course I didn't find out about this until I had leaned on it a little putting the intake/ throttle back on, and started smoking and leaking antifreeze bad.

There's a seal in there that goes bad, too...

Good luck!
