I havent had any problems with mine with the pins. **** i even ran it w/o pins for a few hundred miles while i was waiting for my pin order to come in.

Wow you really need to work on your information. There have been only a few hoods that flipped. None have delaminated, and none have flipped or delaminated with hood pins.

I believe the hoods have flown up possibly due to install and how lite the hoods are, but I am unsure of as I have the first hood with no pins and I have not had any problems.

So don't go spreading stuff that isn't true. Yes hoods have flipped but none that have been pinned.

Whoa... I never said that all of the CF hoods would have problems.

There is a possibility that the CF hoods will delaminiate though, with or without pins. Anytime you have 2 different materials, CF and Fiberglass in this case, bonded together, there is a risk that they will seperate. Pins are not a magical fix for this problem. I would recommend running them though. I even run them on my lightened factory steel hood.

My point simply was that the Cincy hoods have not had this problem since there is nothing to delaminate because they are 100% fiberglass. Pins are still a good idea though, to prevent the hood from lifting, and the fact that the factory latch can easily destroy the fiberglass where it contacts it.

I will grant you that probably the #1 cause of the problem those CF hoods have had is with installation.

FWIW, I was one of the first people to jump in on the thread you had made regarding the Plus style CF hood for the Gen 2. I would still be interested in purchasing one, should they ever be created.

I'm not hating on the CF hoods, just stating that there have been some problems.

I just wish there was a hood with a scoop instead of a cowl available. I know somebody is going to say i'm stupid but thats what I would love to see for my car. Nothing huge just the look i prefer.

I have an extra hood already though so im planning to work one up myself eventually.

I'm gonna install one when I get to my paint and body work. I plan on using a mustang scoop. I would really like a shaker hood but the cockeyed motor in the SHO I think it would look funny going back and forth instead of side to side.

And IMO, that's a few too many. A hood flipping up is a very dangerous situation, not one that should be shrugged off.

I don't quite think that really qualifies him as "knowing what he's talking about". There is a problem with those hoods, more than the fact that they don't fit well, and it doesn't seem like anyone ever took the initiative to find out what it was. They instead went with the idea that hood pins are the way to make it right. Hood pins or not, there's still a problem with the hoods that should be addressed.

When I get one it wll be the cincy sho hood. I have seen many of them and that one fits THE best by far. I have seen damage from one of the cf hoods that feel apart...not prety

where did you guys get you're hoods? Mine fit perfect  It took a few days of messing around with adjustments, oh and it also needed the hood pins to make it sit correctly, so they killed two birds with one stone.:thumb:

No fender gap, doesnt stick up over or under the fenders, no hood to front bumper gap:

EDIT: FWIW I do 100% agree that every CF hood should have pins:thumb:

Your stament implied that they have delaminate and will delaminate. Fiberglass is just glass fibers suspended in a resin, similar to carbonfiber sheets held together with resin.

So no hood has delaminated yet. The pins are to keep them from flying up.

I just don't like misinformation being passed around.
