Well, after almost a year of weekend work, I finally feel confident enough to take the black SHO out for an AutoX event. What I've done to it so far:

-Intrax/Sensatracs
-New Strut Rod Bushing (frt and rear)
-New AL SFB's
-New swaybar links and bushings
-CPS and crank seal replaced.

I'm also planning on new tires as soon as money allows, thinking Hankook RS3's or Potenza's. Wheel is a 17x7 if anyone has any other suggestions.

My question is, what should I do next? I've been looking into making my own sub frame connectors because I own a welder, but don't really know where to start. Also been looking at changing the front swaybar to a 20.6 from the current 24mm to prevent it from pushing in corners, although some of that may clear up with better tires.

How much would strut tower braces and an H brace stiffen the chassis?

Basically just talk chassis stiffening, if you were going to Auto X it.

Thanks in advance!
Tim.

:thankyou:

Go out and drive the car as is. Make assessment on how the car drove. Come back, ask question again.

That way, when you come back and say "The car would not do this" or "I want it to do this", We can give you a more specific answer.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions guys, anyone know where I can get a wrench to tighten that nut? :laugh_ti:

Any suggestions for a good, grippy Auto X tire?

I remember seeing a picture of someone who had made or bought an H-Brace that wasn't the milled Keystone one. Anyone have a picture of it? I think it was white...

Why would he go with Gen 3 subframe bushings when he has recently installed new ALSFB? Wouldn't that be downgrading in a way?

Wait... were you talking about bushings, or a Gen 3 subframe swap?

A Gen III Subframe swap may be a little out of my league at the moment, but It's on the list for sure.

What year GTP arms do people use? And what do you mean by adjustable endlinks? Swaybar endlinks?

Yeah... But considering the adjustment you can make in the rear, and the $$ you'll save from not having to buy tires every 15k is worth it

I would say disconnect your front sway bar until you can change the set up to a 20 up front and a 26 out back. I really noticed a difference when I added subframe connectors. Star specs do very well for autox. You can also get a different alignment.

Drive it and report back. If you are running the stock diff remember not to stab the throttle coming out of the corners or you will just light up the inside tire. Have fun.

I would highly suggest subframe connectors.

The years for the GTP are listed but you need the correct spacers and washers. SHONut no longer sells them. You also need to pull them from 2 different cars.

For the time and trouble to find them and the hardware, I think the Ingalls are worth it: SHO Source

I am not sure what you mean by milled for the h-brace. They are welded together.

Coilovers would be the next step: SHO Source
