Yes, I know there is a thread that already has this title, but I have different issues. I have a MarkVIII 80mm Maf, 3.2, stage 1 cams, and about every other bolt on. I have the right maf file loaded, changed the idle and the displacement in the scalers.

I can't get it to idle correctly. It idles at about 2500, then finally comes down to 1500 or so. If driving, the idle fluctuates after putting the clutch in, until you come to a stop (then it races again). I think I might try the stock Maf and stock x2j file again and start from scratch and see what happens.

Any other ideas? I've swapped the TPS and IAC just to make sure it wasn't a problem with them.

That issue is impossible to fix.....just cut your losses and sell it all to me. I'll give you $100.

But really, I have no idea about the issue.

Put the stock MAF back in and then and load the stock MAF curve in and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then you can say for certain that either the new MAF (Or a leak, as stated) is causing the problem. As far as the MAF, or are you using the Generic MAF curve off of Josh's website for the 80mm?

Put the stock maf and tune back in and idle is where it should be (well, lower than i would like it with cams). I raised the idle to 1000, and it seems to take a bit longer to come down after start up (is this possibly due to a lightweight flywheel?). I was not able to drive it because it was too dark and rainy for my tastes (and for my improperly aimed headlights.....another thing on the to-do list!).

I will post updates tomorrow after driving, and depending on what happens, I will even swap mafs around again.

Thank you for the responses so far!

The lighter flywheels will do that in some cases, regardless...mine take a bit longer then stock to return to idle. If the Idle on your car is messed up with the 80mm MAF...and assuming you are running the correct 80mm MAF run-file, then I would suspect a issue with the MAF itself. With that being said there is a lot of room for improvement on the 80mm MAF calibration on Josh's website. The file itself is fine and it's a great starting point, but of course every car is going to be different and in my opinion it should really only be used as a starting point.

Alright, idle still rolls when coming to a stop after driving. That doesn't seem to have changed at all. I tightened all of the hose clamps on the intake and used propane to try and find any leaks. I couldn't find any. I drove it again after tightening the clamps, and still the same. I doubt it would be a problem with the tweecer itself, but I may try pulling that as well, just to rule it out. Idle is definitely as high as it was, that is much improved.

I did use Josh's file for the 80mm maf, and I might try swapping it in again now and seeing if the high idle returns. I'm leaning towards leaving the 80mm off for Gingerman this weekend, as i don't want to lean out when I'm running 7k all day long....

Decided to check codes and found out my CEL bulb was burned out! Funny. Lucky I had a spare 89 unit. 411 code. Cleared codes and reset idle. Still does it. Unplugged electrical plug on VSS and it doesn't do it anymore. What other purposes does this electrical plug have?
