Worth noting is those are not simply "plug and play" as I would describe it. I believe it's plug and play in terms of they bolt right up into the stock locations. However, a tune is required for the upgraded turbos. To me plug and play means hook it up and go driving.

I am not at work now, so I don't have access to Ford's time, but Chilton's shows 3.5 hours for the left turbo r/r and 4.9 hours for the right turbo r/r. Most shops are $100-120 / hour, so you are looking at $500-600 in labor for the rear turbo.

I checked at work today, and perhaps not surprisingly, the Ford labor times are the same as listed above (I had expected the Chilton's to just be a copy of the Ford labor times). However, you can add 0.2 for refilling and burping the cooling system, and possibly 0.7 for diagnosing engine noise if needed, so you could legitimately get to 5.8 for the right turbo.

They are plug & play.

A tune is technically NOT required.

Certainly wouldn't be taking advantage of them by just simply installing them alone....

But it would serve the OP's goal(s) of having upgraded turbo's alone.

About how many hours would it take to drop the engine and subframe out the bottom?

How much are the turbos in an outright buy?

How much is a rebuild on the turbo?

I'm not claiming to be an expert, but that's not what's on stage3motorsports.com for the turbo. They state a tune is required to engine damage can occur. I guess if it was something I was looking at doing I would contact ATP and ask them directly.

I understand what you were saying and I agree that one would not be taking full advantage of the upgraded turbos capabilities by not tuning.

However, since I am the second person to have upgraded the turbos from ATP, I can speak from personal experience that I drove for 2 months with the upgraded turbos on my car without tuning and without any problems whatsoever.

But I assure you they are plug-and-play as one would perceive and as you describe yourself.

Bolt on and away you go! :thumb:

R/R engine complete including transferring accessories to the new engine is 15.5 hours. Just dropping the engine and subframe to get to the turbos would be at least half of that.

How much did the turbos run you? I've been putting in some serious thought about maybe going aftermarket turbos... maybe go offroad DP's at the same time since they have to come off anyways...

I'd have to go rifle through my file cabinet & locate the receipt.

I'll get back to you on it.

cool... I'm just thinking aftermarket might be more reliable... and hopefully cost effective compared to paying a dealership for stock turbos

EMail or call ecopowerparts.com, see if they can still do this pricing:
$1600.00 + core charge of $800

Mind you, this was pricing from 2.5 years ago ...
