Codes are cleared, and are staying gone. Steering wheel is off center because I did new tie rods but nothing an alignment won’t fix. Car drove for the first time in weeks today and didn’t miss a beat had plenty of power but I’m taking it easy on it for the first thousand miles or so on the new components. Here she is all back together and badly needing a wash. I had to buy a new hose clamp as my throttle body to CAC hose with the noisemaker on it didn’t want to tighten the TB clamp so it’s loose on there causing a boost leak I’m sure. Other than that the job seems to have been a success. I hope this thread and my others can be of use to those attempting this job yourself. I have yet to find out if the CEL stays gone and if my new replacement turbos last but here’s to hoping great things lie ahead. That’s all we can do these days is try and make things better with the knowledge we acquire.

And yes I’m aware my front bumper needs repainted. It was a wreck and rebuild so someone cheaped out on the new bumper. Overall the car is an experience (a rather expensive one) and after all this work it should stay reliable if I keep draining the CAC, checking plug gaps, fuel system cleanings, and the FLUIDS. Trans every 30k, PTU every 10k since mine is at 136k miles I do it more often. RDU was done last I knew at 89k so it’s due for sure. Also have a drivers frontal stage 1 airbag fault that won’t go away so that will be next on the list of fixes as well as my burnt heated seat harness. The fun never ends! But it’s a blast knowing I drive a unique sport-focused car that can haul a** with the whole family inside. And even make some stock Camaro or mustang owners feelings hurt. It’s a great feeling.

Update: new thread posted TLDR have p0430 permanent and p0420 pending. If anyone has downpipes for sale let me know as I can’t afford new ones after all the turbos and timing. Don’t wanna drive it on a possibly plugged CAT in fear of exhaust back pressure on the turbo seals.

New cats have been purchased, and will be installed along with new front and rear sway bar links, and rear toe links. Then it’s off to the gas station to fill with 93 and some fuel system cleaner to flush out all the old 87 gas it was sitting with. I already added one gas treatment before driving it but after the misfire scare I had I’m not being too careful with spark knock and everything else. Knock sensor wiring looked good while I was putting the car back together. The car was running ok and I was not getting on it at all past half throttle but after the cat codes were thrown I had some bucking and stuttering followed by the slow blinking CEL that required the car to be restarted. Car was in sport mode and auto shifting when the bucking started at under half throttle. Gas pedal caused the rpm’s to jump around like crazy so I pulled over and restarted it. Drove home fine after that. Unsure about what new codes are there. Some oil present on the throttle body so I re sucked out the CAC again. I had some loose exhaust manifold bolts so I tightened those because I moved the flex pipe and heard exhaust leaking on the front bank and I had a loose bolt on the rear bank manifold as well. Then checked plugs (all gapped to 0.028 w 15k on them). So I’m either having fueling issues compounded with the bad cats (had oily residue in the rear which has the P0430 permanent code), or my timing is off even though it was verified by myself and my mechanic by hand before ever putting the engine back together. Even made sure each cylinder had compression w the plugs in by hand first turning the crank. He’s super busy so I can’t do any O2 sensor monitoring or timing yet but given each cat has had 2 failed turbos through them each, I think they should be replaced. Maybe that’s why my 2 month old front turbo gave up the ghost. Also the IC was sucked clean and I cleaned all the MAP sensors with MAF cleaner before the first startup. How do I do a crank/cam relearn if that would help? I haven’t specifically tried the idle re learn after the battery being dead 3 times in a week so the car might not be adjusted properly yet compounded with the possibly bad cats and the not great fuel. Fuel range dropped from 200 miles to 120 miles after the cat codes cel was thrown and I restarted it. This was before the misfire incident. Sorry for the long post and it’s all guesswork until I can get some live data. Hopefully the timing isn’t out of wack and these new cats work with some better gas.

Watch this video, it will clear the Keep Alive Memory, also will clear the Throttle Position, start car let it idle to temp, drive for 20 minutes without beating on it, that will reset all older learned values.

Hopefully it’ll be happy after all of this work

I’m definitely doing the relearn after I replace the parts and seeing how she drives. Should I add some octane booster to the gas I have now? Or is it a bad idea to have a bunch of cleaners and additives into this older gas while the car is trying to learn? I’ll put 93 in it if that would be the best bet for the relearn.

Octane booster notoriously clog up cats.... just get a spout and can with some 93 - 5 gals and add, unless you know the gas is bad in the tank, then drain it from the passenger side rear seat, pull low pressure pump and suck it out.

I don’t know if it’s bad gas it’s under a month old with royal purple injector cleaner in it. The cleaner treats up to 20 gal so adding some 93 can’t hurt it’ll just mix with the 1/4 tank of 87 and make 1/2 a tank of 90-91 ish possibly with cleaner in it. So should work out decent I think.

dont put anymore gas protectants in - just get clean 93 5 gals and add. the RP should be preserving your gas.

That’s why I put it in there is I figured it would help keep the gas in a decent state. So 93 it is once I get the new cats on. And I can clean all the O2 sensors with MAF cleaner correct? If they turn out to be bad I’ll replace them.

New suspension parts arriving today gonna be putting them in while the weather is nice. I’m dreading the live data reading because if I need new O2 sensors that’s just another thing to wait on. I’m dreading it even more in case I have timing codes from the misfire incident. With how great it was driving after I tightened the bolts and everything with the gas treatment I hope it’s not timing that brought on the misfire and the efficiency codes.
