this tranny issue has got me WTF!

93 TAURUS SHO.TRANNY bucks back and forth with any acceleration if plugged in to the ecm.if unplugged i candrive it in first second and reverse.has this happened toanyone else .i dont think that it matters that its a SHO but if anyone has a taurus that has done this please help.or anyone with the knwledge of what it might be would be great.thnx guyz

Definately a bad VSS. If you can drop the y pipe it is actually a simple job to replace.

well the weather kept me from getting under the car today but im real excited to see if the speed sensor fixes the problem.hopefully the weather breaks tmrw and i can get out and get this done.

istill would appreciate any other advice concerning the ymptoms that i described.istill have not been able to find anyone that has expeirieced this exact problem but i know that i cant be the only one that this has happened to.

if the speed sensor isnt the problem then check the wiring loom at the back of the motor as they tend to rub the wires until the wiring shorts out when the motor moves during acceleration....can make a computer go bad as well1

5/speeds rule

i have to agree.i have had two 5/speeds and that is one thing i never worried about and that was the tranny.also my 5/speeds were 92 so i didnt have to worry about the egr woes either.oh those were the days:)

im actualy in the midle of atx mtx swap and boy its fun

thanx jmp-SHO.i knew i couldnt be the only one.

I hope you're not still driving it because those hard shifts will **** and ATX transmission like I did and I am in the process of gathering parts to do an MTX swap.

Change out that VSS asap, I replaced mine like 5 times and I can do it in about 10 mins after the exhaust is down.

i am going to replace the vss asap.i have to take it to a frineds house to use his jack.
