Starting to really hate the battery management system... started popping a warning and shutting down the car maybe once a month, then once a week, then once a day. Did the BMS reset in Forscan, seemed to help for a few days now its giving audible warnings and displaying the battery light every time I turn the car on without starting and as soon as I turn the car off.

Been to the parts store to check it out, battery and alternator test fine. Started first try even when it was -10 out. About ready to disable the dang thing.

Yes, it sucks. I think the intention was to "save" your battery by intelligently charging it, like a trickle charger. I think it actually causes issues with batteries because it never keeps them properly charged.

It's designed to monitor leakage and shut down the system to prevent you from coming out to a dead batter. So if you leave a light on, if it notices that your radar detector is causing parasitic loss, etc. it will shut off after 10 minutes to prevent you from killing the battery.

I replaced the battery last year and reset the system, but it started doing it back in June and is progressively getting worse. I put it on a trickle charger today and hooked up Forscan to disable it completely, but then started going through my head of "what ifs" and "what if there IS an issue and I disable this then my battery does die and I'm stranded somewhere?" so I decided not to.

Another day another project completed I think. This was the biggest pain in the ass thing I did now. I know why the upholstery shops did not want to do this. I'm a little ****** off because the guy picked out and order to same color as mine interior. Well apparently it's not the same color so I did both pillars the match. .

Use Forscan and just turn it off. :thumb:

Its primary purpose is to shut down the alternator for increased fuel economy. It will only charge the battery to 80% and then shut off. Then it cycles on/off while driving to keep the battery at 80%. As you drive ,the system switches back and forth between battery and alternator depending on load. If you disable it, the parasitic auto shut down feature still works and you will get 100% charge rate to the battery. If you ever upgrade your stereo with amps you'll want the BMS disabled.
