So I turned on Media in the factory radio, held the top right for a few seconds to get to Android Auto, opened Maps and started navigating to the first school, and clicked Play in Spotify for Music. Just like other Android Auto, I can toggle back and forth to either app or split screen them. We have an electric gate that can be controlled with Smart Life. I have that app enabled in Android Auto so I was able to open the gate with the radio this morning.
So just for clarification, sorry if i am missing it here, but you are toggling through apps, opening your gate, opening spotify all through the cars touchscreen interface? or are you doing all of that on your phone and just seeing it on the cars screen? Again sorry if I am being dense and missing it.

No problem at all. Yes, I'm doing it all through the car's stereo. The only time I touched my phone was when I couldn't get it to use voice for the next location, so I entered it on my phone rather than try to type on the big screen.

Here's the YT video that convinced me to buy it. As I mentioned, he plugs into the head unit but it's been updated since then, so that step is inaccurate.

And I haven't figured out how to cast YouTube like he does in the video. Maybe I have to plug in for that.

Added some hood pins and vents, didn’t like the wire on the pins so I removed it.

looks sweet, and something I need to do
Thanks brother, best advice lots of masking tape, several fine teeth jig saw blades and a dremel tool with several new disc. The hood is double layered metal so is certain spots when cutting u will hit the glue substance they used to hold it together or reduce vibrations not to sure but the blades don’t like it at all. Also because of the hood creases use a step bit for pins

With their unassuming exterior and powerful performance potential, can we consider the SHO a top contender for the sleeper car title? What modifications or upgrades have you made to your SHO that might surprise other drivers on the road?
I do consider this one of the top sleepers out there IMO. Not to many cars for the price range that can compete with higher priced sports cars.

At the moment my mods are
XDI HpFp
GH intercooler
GH E-30 tune
170 T stat
Airaid air intake
SSM torque mounts (highest application ones)
I have ordered the PPE high flow down pipes and corsa exhaust system. Ordered a GH torque converter.
I purchased the Eco power parts hot pipes as well with a meth bung along with a methanol kit. (No I do not want to dive into Matt or 802’s stuff I love 802’s car and the limits he is pushing and I buy 90% of my stuff from Matt so not trying to offend either party.)

I also have a nitrous kit in the works. Nothing crazy but something different than I’ve seen on our platform so far.

Got some coil overs on the way too. I am currently looking at these limited slip diffs and figuring if I really need them for my goals.
Just wanna run solid 11’s.
This is my daily driver and I have 2 kids and a wife. So taking out interior and shedding weight will not happen on this one. **** I would rather have full weight and if I win roll down the widow to show off the car seats of my daughters lol makes people’s reactions much funnier.

I graduated college in 4 months and will be looking to do the turbos then as my personal grad present. If anyone has any advice or input for the build please let me know all the help the better. Oh and most importantly the gapplebees sticker. IMG 0505

They won’t. And if that’s what it looks like, all the better. I’m not really a fan of screens and so much tech in cars as it is, then you put out a car with the entire dashboard a screen from pillar to pillar? Disgusting.

I'm a tech nerd so I like that.

You should be able to run 11’s. You car is pretty close to mine. You can probably run meth too - it will cool your intake temps which is one of the tools that will make your car more consistent imo. Or skip the meth and run nitrous, you should easily have a full weight car in the 11’s. A full weight maintained sho would be a fun 12.0 index car imo. Either way, nice build!

One last thing. Start looking at replacing your low pressure fuel pump.

Thanks so much, yes I have watched your builds and YouTube videos I’m pretty sure. If not there is a guy with a Taurus sho he calls the dad mobile on YouTube. Awesome content. Any recommendations on the low pressure fuel pump?

I haven’t hooked up the meth yet. I do have an N-tercooler nitrous set up though and it’s been pretty awesome for the most part.

My SHO was an absolute blast, I never had a single problem with her and will miss her dearly. I traded in her in with 141,000 miles in for a brand new 2025 Explorer ST-Line for my wife and took on her car for my daily driver for the time being. I put my sho almost back to stock before I let her go. So I'll have some stuff for sale in the following days/weeks. Obviously the hood and Subwoofer box will only be for sale locally because of size and weight but most other things will be listed soon.

I really appreciate all the help from everyone here to get my car to where it was and I loved every minute of it!

That’s kinda funny, I did the exact same thing. But then soon after sold her old car I took over for another SHO. Unfortunately, she’s not in love with the Explorer. She thinks it’s too big. Which it kind of is, definitely designed for much larger people. Her arms don’t reach either armrest.
