Its probably the internals in the shifter box, I just fixed mine today actually. I just took it apart and welded it back together. Know I have a reinforced rod shifter. :thumb:

I really hate seeing ppl say things like that...When you own a SHO ( or 3 )...There's ALWAYS something to fix... It's the "nature of the beast". Relax....we're ALL here to help!!

pull down the black box...
unbolt shifter rod from tranny...
take the broken pieces to a welder....
bolt rod back in....

it really is that simple.... happend to me a few months ago.... sucked. but an easy fix... that is if you can get to a welder....
good luck..

really though, i'm not worried about that car cause i got the 89 on the road so i get around, i was going to sell the 91 but when the shifter broke, i said i might as well part it out, if someone wants to buy it and fix the shifter, be my guest

IMO, Sell the car whole, thats one more SHO on the road.

Its sad how easy it would be to replace the rod shifter or have it welded. Parting it out is a ton more work.

i just need time, i mean i tried getting $2200 for that SHO and its really hard to sell, i mean 2200 for a 95K SHO with upgrades is fair i think and its like people expect to get it for like a grand but the thing is, i can use a parts car, God forbid i get hit, i'll have parts like doors, bumpers, etc so i kind of want a parts car

and to think i felt bad about parting out the 94 we got, it had no title, tons of body rot and a bad trans. but it did help to keep other shos live on. i dont think i could ever part one out that needed a small fix. there are tons of taurii in the junk yard for parts.

Help Too

I hope I can sneak in on this thread. I just had something similar happen. My shifter flops back and forth and my car is stuck in overdrive. When I look at the shifter in the car it is connected to the left rod but not connected to the right rod. A black plastic piece that connects the bottom of the shifter to the rod broke. Does anyone know if this plastic piece has a name?

Thanks
