I'm about to do rod bearings tomorrow and am wondering if perhaps my crank is junk? I noticed the sound approx 3000 miles ago, a faint tapping noise at about 2500 to 3000 rpms but it would pretty much disappear when engine was warm.At idle though my oil pressure is at about 10 psi. I drove from massachusetts down to florida with that sound and it only got worse. What do you guys think? Since ive owned it Ive given regular oil changes with good oill and filters and i bought it with 68,000 miles.

metal flakes, pieces, are tall tell signs. When you remove the rod caps, the crank should look "clean" and there should be no markings on it.
