I was having a discussion with a friend about rod bearings. So I figures I would ask here to see what everyone thinks. Which rod bearings are good quality and work well with the ecoboost? King or some other brand? And is it best to run them oversized or undersized? And how would a high pressure oil pump affect the bearing size? Or does that matter?

haven't seen anyone need to replace oem bearings unless they are going for an all-out build.

you can look up bpd1151 and 802sho's build threads to see what has been down and how.

in normal situations, stick with oem normal sized bearings.

I have king rod bearings CR6888XP
king main bearings MB4549XP

My HPFP cam lobe had a lot of wear on it, that may be an inherit situation bc of the design but moving forward my cam shafts have been shot peened (WPC treated) to increase their strength and durability. WPC treatment is an advanced/controlled micro shot peening process.

You can't run oversized bearings unless you machine your crank to match. You usually do this when your journals are damaged. Running undersized will result in much lower oil pressure and lead to a rod knock fairly quickly. I've never heard of running undersized bearings.

anyone just change the rod bearings to fresh new bearings with the engine in the car from the bottom?
Is it relatively easy to do if you just do the rod bearings?
