Well, I got the clutch on my 94 mtx fixed, but the performace is still drained, ecspecially at high rpms... it feels like im driving my friends cavalier. The oil pan gasket is leaking and needs replaced anyway so im going to be under there. Im just wondering if rod bearings could be the reason my sho is running so horribly? I can also hear some sort of a ticking/knocking from the lower half.
Any info/advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Aaron

I don't recall anyone every complaining about performance when they did theirs. On my original 3.0 engine performance was GREAT until a bearing spun. Have you checked your timing, done a 60K yet?
If you're pulling off the pan, it's a good idea to do the bearings a preventative maintainance issue.

Yes, it could very well indeed be that one of your rod bearings has spun, indicated by the knock on the lower half and big power loss. When my rod bearing spun, the engine lost major power also.. Do not drive it until you get a look at 1) the bottom of the oil pan for shavings and 2)the bearings!
Does it knock at all engine speeds? Is it loud or faint?

this may seem weird but it doesnt seem to start knocking until after its warm, and the red little oil light flickers at idle, then bounces the rpms back up, the the tach goes back down and the car almost dies, then bounces up again, it has died a few times on me. Maybe my motor = dead ? o_O

If working properly, RED oil light = lunk rod bearings

Means they are possibly dying. You may be losing oil pressure from the oilholes getting elongated and not keeping the pressure up. You'd know if you'd spun one, it's loud and the car will knock fiercely.

Drain the oil, if it's metallic, time to give them a look.

If you spun a rod bearing the cranshaft needs to be ground for oversized bearings, or replaced. The spun bearing ruins the crank journal and simply replacing the bearings will not resolve the problem.

You could have bad bearings and may not have spun a bearing. Carefully inspect the crank journals and mike them for "out of round".
