Rod Bearing sources

I have to replace the oil pan gasket to fix a leak on my '90 so I figured while I had it down, go ahead and do the rod bearings but it seems like the CB-1435P standard size is out of stock everywhere :'( . Ebay is all -.25mm.

Rockauto is now seemingly showing ranger/vulcan v6 bearings.

Local auto parts stores have nothing.

I even tried JEGs / Summit which shows them as special order from manufacturer, but they cancelled my orders after a few days.

Lethal Performance supposedly has some but I am dubious of their 80 USD shipping fee for 6 bearings. (and they will let me add 6000 bearings to my order with out issue so I don't think they have any sort of inventory / inventory checking). I will call them tomorrow.

Any other suggestions?

Yes, it is a problem. At this point our hope is (I need a set too):

- A hoarder has a ton of them and will part with a set for you and me. Doubtful, as hoarders don't part with sheet.
- The SHO Source guy is looking into getting a custom run of them going. Hopefully he comes thru.

Now that you mention hoarding, I might have a set with all of my 3.2 parts from many years ago that never got built. I know I at least have a set of rods that may have used ones in them.
I should go digging through that box. I didn't realize things had gotten so dire hahah.

Try looking at the facebook group to see if someone there has some on a shelf they are willing to sell. Cast a wide net.

You have to keep your eyes open in various spots. They pop up on ebay from time to time and I've even seen them listed on Amazon in the past.

I talked to Lethal Performance today, they also do not actually have them in stock (as expected) but said supposedly they could get them around the end of February? Unsure of how accurate that is. Thanks all I'll just looking then.

The FB groups might be your best option. Plead your situation and maybe someone will come off a set.

huh, maybe I'll grab as set and have some rods /crank laying around from my old 3,2 build so I can test some clearances.

I ordered a
CB-1437p (1989 TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0L L6) -- oddly my Orielly has a set of these? Best selling car in america for a decade: Nothing. But a toyota supra? YEP WE GOT IT! LOL
ITM 6B9521-STD (1988 ACURA LEGEND 2.7L V6) -- I couldn't find any of the Clevite, but these were cheap on rockauto
ITM 6B9518-STD (1994 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 3.0L V6) -- same as above

I'll photograph them, and test them for fitment with plastigauge on a 3,2 rod/crank I have in the parts shed in cylinder position 2

According to the manual we are going for:
0.024-0.056mm desired
0.08 allowable

They also sho CB1437P6 which is a full set of 6.

Looking at the numbers of all three I personally think the better option would be the Acura bearings. Set of 6 on RA for $24.

The pile of bearings I ordered arrived today, and I went digging through the shed and found a set of 3.2 pistons to test with and a set of 6 CB-1435p (thank the gods).

TLDR: the Supra bearings (CB-1437p) seem to be the best bet (but some dremelling required of the tangs as they're too wide as seen in hte first picture) but these are extremely close. I haven't tested with plastigauge on a crank yet, but these are the closest to an OE fit of the bearings In the second picture, Supra on the Left, 1435P on the right.





Below is the ITM 6B9521-STD (1988 ACURA LEGEND 2.7L V6). It is too small by a fair bit.





Below is the TM 6B9518-STD (1994 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 3.0L V6). these are narrower than factory and a bit too long, they could work if you're brave enough to shorten them.

The second picture is 1435P on the left and Toyota on the right.

Also I called a second company that had them in stock on their website. They did not have any in stock but also claim that 1435s will be in stock approx the end of Feburary, so who knows?

That's odd that the Acura bearing came out so small when the specs match up almost identical to the 1435p. The only thing that should vary is it should have been slightly narrower compared to the SHO bearing just like the Supra bearing is slightly wider. Those were really the only specs that were off from the three. I wonder if that Acura bearing is misboxed or mislabeled.
