Coil spring recommendations with source of purchase

In hindsight, I probably should have perused a little to check quantities online. However, to be fair, I didn't quite realize the struts I ordered would come without springs. Anyways the excel-g came without springs, and I'm having a **** of a time finding any. Moog is apparently out of the question, KYB doesn't sell springs independently as far as I can find, TRW, ACDelco, even Mevotech are out of stock - everywhere I look.

What is going on here? Why can't I find any springs in stock? Some years back I ran into a similar situation where I couldn't find a steering rack anywhere. Is there something going on geopolitically that I'm not aware of that is affecting aftermarket auto part inventory?

Luckily this isn't urgent, but I find it all disturbing. Does anyone have recommendations for alternate spring brands? RockAuto actually does have TRW springs for the rear (CC859), but no fronts. Everything else they have is Lesjofors - some brand I've never heard of.

I'm hesitant to reuse my current springs, so can someone point me in the right direction please?

Car is older now, so not as many parts around. You can try seeing if Shosource has anything. I gave them a bunch of stock Monroe springs awhile back. How old are your springs, if they are not worn out maybe consider keeping them. You can try and post a want to buy here or on the Facebook SHO market place.

Apparently I didn't keep any records on purchasing new strut assemblies, but I'm gonna guess they're at least 8-10 years old. The rear is visibly sagging, so I'm reluctant to reuse any of those components. The front end isn't much better, or at least it doesn't seem to be trying to stop the see-saw action which happens when I give it the gas pedal.

After posting, I looked at a bunch of so-called "custom" spring shops, figuring I could dig through their catalogs until I found some springs that fit the specs of Moog's CC858 and CC859s. Interestingly enough, I stumbled across the webpage for the Lesjofors brand I found in rockauto, and I'm now having second thought about trying them out. The company is not an upstart, but has been manufacturing springs for something like 170 years. The factories are in the UK, Finland, and Sweden areas.

I think I'll give them a try, especially if brands like Moog are starting to crap out.

There is a company in Australia that makes custom coils, but the would only take a group purchases and shipping costs would be high.

I have NOS moog springs I think the preferred combo is gen 2 front gen 1 rear

When searching for springs, don't specify "SHO". I always search the 3.8 Taurus on RA. These are what I would buy if I needed some.

BTW, from my screen shots above...

SMS858V can be found under 92-95 3.8 Taurus and are front springs.

SMS839V can be found under 89-91 3.8 Taurus and are rear springs.

Again, these are the ones I would buy if I needed springs. They are essentially repackaged Moogs.

Springs may possibly be handled. I went ahead and ordered the Lesjfors, and got the rears tonight. Does anyone know if rockauto sells springs in pairs? Seems stupid to sell those individually, but I'm having a possible issue with them over this now. Did everyone know that rockauto doesn't have good customer service? it's all online crap.

Can anyone recommend a part number for rear spring insulators? The bottom seat partial spiral thing? I apparently ordered four front insulators, and am having a hard time finding rears.

I reused they old insulator if i recall correctly.

No way! I use their part look up and order from Amazon. Been burned too many times by RA.

Yes. When they first started I was able to get someone on the phone. For a long time now it is a crapshoot... and I pay a little extra if I can find it local so I can do easy returns and talk to humans. I use them alot for referencing aftermarket parts and then go looking around elsewhere
