Was a core required? That is a great deal regardless.

Tom

Yeah, $40 core. Not really worth the shipping and time to return for mere 40 bucks but I'll return it anyways to keep the process going. My crank if is in great shape, just scratched where front seal is, can easily be machined out. If they run out of cores I'm sure there start jacking the price up.

Do you know you can repair the scratched seal area with a simple speedy sleeve? It would be far less work than replacing a crank.

yeah, but I wanted to replace it anyways. Motor has over 160k miles on it and couting. Wanted new main seals and such and nice surface for them to. Couldn't pass up the price!

Everything old is getting made new again.
Suddenly, you can buy all kinds of stuff for the old 348 - 409 Chev engine. You can buy new aluminum heads for 390 Fords. And cranks, rods, pistons for everything under the sun. There are no cores involved with that stuff, everything is made from new castings or forgings. And the prices are good.
If they will make new parts for a 348, they will make it for anything.
