Tell me what can be the problem when I'm shifting gears and when I go to 3rd gear it grinds, so I have to hold the clutch a split second longer before engaging and this is at high speeds normaly and sometimes when I'm picking up speed. Could it be that it's time for a new clutch or what? shrug frown

No its not your clutch

Its a worn syncro/blocking ring. It will eventually grind lower and lower in the rpm range, the damage has already started, theres no way to reverse it without a rebuild of the trans.

So it's a used tranny. If you needed a clutch it would be hard to get into 1st and reverse. Since it seems only 3rd is affected it might need blocking rings and synchros.

Does it shift into 3rd well with the car off? Did you try changing the fluid?
