I've had an issue like this on one of my camaro's. I had an injector that wasn't working quite right, so occasionally it would bleed off fuel into the engine when it was sitting and would be difficult to start (I think both from excess fuel sitting in one cylinder and loss of fuel pressure). Might or not be the trouble here, but thought I would toss another idea on the table.

When I upgraded the fuel system in my 02 Mustang GT (who builds a V8 with a stock fuel system that maxes out over 400 N/A?) I had an issue with intermittent hard starts because of priming. Try turning the key to ON wait for a few seconds (on my car you can hear a "click") then try starting. If you have no issues its a priming issue. Over time older cars develop this symptom because the pump head valve that keeps pressure in the line fails. In my time working at a european car dealer I saw a number of Volvo S80s (T6s usually) with cracks in the top of the pump which would let pressure (and fuel!) leak out so theyd have hard start issues at first them develop into all kinds of acceleration issues.
