No Start Issue; Charging Battery Did Not Help

The SHO has been sitting a couple of weeks since I've been gone. I went to start it the other day, and the chimes came on, dash lights lit up, radio, clock etc. all lit up, but CLICK when I turn it to start. I figured the battery was bad as it's done this before. I took it to AutoZone and the guy said it was good but just had a low charge. I brought it home and put it on the charger for a couple of hours and tried it again, no luck.

Today I put it on the middle range amperage setting for 30 min. I went to check on it, and it was showing 12.7-12.8 volts and full...ok it should work right? Nope, nothing.

Should I just go out and buy a new battery, or do I have more serious issues here? Again, everything else powers up and works, but it just clicks when I turn it to start.

EDIT: I jump started the car yesterday and it started right up and idled fine for about 10 min. until I turned it off. Just doesn't make sense to me that it won't start if my charger says it's full. I need to go buy a multimeter.

Battery just may not have enough amps to turn it over &/or your ground wire is corroded. remove & clean the neg ground wire at the starter & check the connections at the relay on the driver fender.

sounds like a bad starter ground, as once the additional grounds are supplied (I.E. jumper wires) you're able to have enough to make it work. Definately check your starter wires, check the resistance of it, and check your main chassis 2 engine grounds.

Looks like it might be grounding issue but not sure. The car just started on it's own but with sparks flying from the solenoid area around the fender! The ground seems tight. I don't know if I'm small enough to crawl under there and check the starter wire right now. My jack/jackstands are 45 min. away at my parents' house. Also, when I had the car running I put my battery charger on it and did the alternator check, which came up Fault....meaning I may have bad alternator too. Damn.

I think it's a grounding wire like stated. Sparks flying from the solenoid isn't good and probably means something is loose.

I'd check the alt. and see if you get a batt light flicker! Under load, and that should tell you something...... Or the lights dim to much!

No battery light, no dim interior lights. I just went out there today and it started up fine, although I had to hold the key in the start position for quite awhile. I shut it off, started it back up and it stalled. hmmmm. I popped the hood and turned the key again to start to look for any sparking on startup--none found. The car started right up without issue.

Weird. 20 year old car, I guess it has its gremlins. I think I tightened the battery up better last night in case I had a loose connection which caused the sparks/arcing. I will keep an eye on it as the sparking at the fender relay was kinda scary.

I think I should replace the cam sensor eventually as it likes to stumble on a cold start or require you to hold the key in the start position for longer than normal.

Jeremy, make sure those wires on the Solenoid are tight...if it's sparking there its a good bet thats where to start.

If you'll remember, 98% of the electrical problems on mine were cause someone had lost the bottom nut on one of the posts on the solenoid, causing the wire to be loose. I replaced a good fuel pump cause of this LOL

I started the car up about an hour ago with no sparks, drove it to the grocery store and around just a bit, then back home. No problems. These cars are weird. They randomly act up when they want to.
