I would surmise that in a regularly injected car, the fuel, being highly energetic, acts as a detergent and cleans the valve stems/valves as it passes them. In a DI motor there is no gasoline to thin out and clean out the varnish that builds up from PCV systems, etc.
There's nothing different about the amount of oil that collects in the intake tract on a DI engine, it's just that it sticks to the intake valve and port and is never washed off by fuel in a DI engine. So I would expect the same amount of oil to collect in your Pontiacs' catch cans as any other car, with or without DI.I run a catch-can on both of my Pontiac G8 GT's. It's amazing how much oil would otherwise end up in intake and they are not direct injected engines. Would like to do a catch-can on EB & e-mailed Billet Specialties about one, but haven't heard back. Or... has Ford already solved this issue???

Well, here is the update...
I am being told that the root of my problem has come from a spark plug....
The tip of the plug broke/or melted?...which then caused massive damage to the piston/cylinder/head.
Ford will being doing a long block replacement. They will be sending a new 2011 motor off the Assembly line by end of the week. I am told i will have the car back a week or less after they receive the new engine.
It was also recommended that i use premium grade fuel until new plugs come out..?
That's all i know.... Do i get my odometer set at 0 for new motor?![]()

where my sho had three craked plugs with one of the tips completely melted away, I only use 91 here in Vegas cause of the 110+ temps.. I also had a thread where I was asking what plugs to use for a 6k tune up and I got flamed for even mentioning it.

Looks like changing the plugs early and often may be the best inssurance to keep this from happening...
If this becomes a repeated pattern (and let's hope it doesn't), make that "early and often".I can only hope like **** that a spark plug change is NOT needed so early on in the SHOs life.
