2010 Sho with 21k miles. Its not official, but i am going to be offered a 2011 engine block replacement. This is the first piston issue being reported (in the southeast) i am told by ford. And here are the pics. (iphone pics)

Wow that sucks. So what happened? Were you doing some spirited driving when that happened?

And Why did they just let the brake calipers just hang like that?

Oh, that hurts.
I am amused that when I have a problem, I am always told that I am the only one in the world with the issue, too!

It was just Thursday afternoon going 55. I do live in SC, so it was about 101 degrees out. I initially thought the trans was going out, it was very jerky! Then i saw the puff of smoke from the exhaust. So now i just wait and see...

Update:
For sale, 2010 BLK SHO w/ 2011 Engine! 0 Miles! :woo-hoo:

I will look into selling it when i get it back. Only reason is because i want a bigger vehicle. I am more concerned about the value now? I am not sure what to expect yet. I am just bummed about having to cruise in crappy rental cars for a month!

That's probably cool how they just let the calipers hang down like that, I bet that won't hurt them or anything.

On a more serious note, I'm willing to bet that the intercooler was unable to handle the 100*+ temps and let the charge temp get too high. But that's just my uneducated, non-engineer guess. Cool that you got a new engine, though!

Hey SHOsc, did Ford ask you any questions in regards to any mods on your car or did they just take it in without question? And I would have to agree with Hawkeye on his scenario of what may have happened. At least we are finally able to see one that has gone "Ka-Plunk." A sad site though nonetheless.

He's already stated that he's made zero mods to the car, and frankly, for the demographic the new SHO seems to be appealing to, that would be the norm, not the exception.

Of course, the "old" SHOs, being (after inflation) ~$45000, would have been much the same way for at least the first few years.

I'm willing to bet this TSB involves lowering boost levels at high ambient temps...

I wouldn't be saying anything I didn't want Ford to know about......

Paul, if this was directed at my post then you are 100% right. I was asking if Ford ASKED any questions about the car being modded at all. I wouldn't volunteer any info either, and that's why I'm keeping all "performance related tunes" out the reach of mine until the warranty has gone bye-bye. Especially now if a bone stock SHO bites the dust. Maybe its a one time thing, but I don't want to a be following in those footsteps bud.

You should get a scanner that reads real time data. It will show you and log usually the spark, MAP, boost , FIs, IAT, ECT.....

Oh boy! We get pretty regular 110+F temps around here in the Summer. Hope Ford really did better engineering than coming up with an ambient temp problem. My Mini Cooper S Clubman (turbo/direct injection 1600cc) can handle our temps OK with the AC blasting cold air and spirited driving even in the mountains.
Sorry about you problem but I really hope it's not related to 101F ambient temp.

Hmm. We're starting to get some high temps here in CO and when I drive it during the afternoon (mid to high 90s) my car smells... welll I don't know how to describe it... kind of like something is burning. I'm hoping this is normal?

This is what us Lightning guys use Paul. I wish there was a pod available for the 2010 SHO. I'd already have one if it was.

I got one Porter has stock in and was triumphing the other day. :) Handheld that plugs into the OCDII port. It will record 10 or 12 parameters in real time on Genesis Coupe. Autel MaxiScan MS509
