I ordered an SCT tuner Monday, and will get the GH tune for auto octane just to get started. It will be my go-to tune when traveling and octane is questionable.
Next, I would like to order the catch can and tune(s) from Brad for 93 octane. I have new plugs and the K&N drop-in as well as the three bar.

Talk to Brad, pretty sure he has an auto octane tune. Might as well see what he has to say.

Questions:
Where is the best place to buy the catch can?
I was lucky enough to purchase a used billet one for a smoking deal. However IF I was to purchase new....I would give Lee from Ortiz Tuning a message....He quoted me the a lower price then anyone.

You can also buy direct from UPR.

Some people will say catch cans on the SHO are not needed, I don't agree. I drain mine every 3000 miles (when I change my oil) and crap always come out.

When data-logging for Brad, did you ever experience any of the disconcerting issues spelled out on this thread for the v11?

Never, I have never even had a hiccup with tuning with Brad. I went 2 bar 91, 3 bar 91, and now I have 5 revisions of an e30 tune. Literally mild to wild.

I'm thinking I would get my best data log climbing a ramp to a freeway where the speed limit is 70mph. Does that sound do-able?

I would just go out later, and find a good flat half mile road. Drive it a couple of times, start the log, and let it eat. That is what I would do. I would stay away from inclines because you are putting the car under non normal loads.

Do you have a factory fuel pump?

My fuel system is completely stock. The way Brad tunes (even with my wild E30 tune) my fuel pressure stays stable and we both agree it never enters in danger zone.

In reply #10, Brad talks about my tune in a bit more detail.

Since we are in very different climates, I'm aware that the cold in Northern Ohio may add a variable that I will have to deal with.

It being bitter cold will probably affect your fuel pressures more then mine. When it comes down to it, my car will get a HPFP down the road. So yeah.....

Thanks for your help.

No problem. I am in a position that I can experiment with my SHO and literally see what each mods does with dyno numbers and track numbers.

Central Ohio here, no issues with Brad's tune either. The difference between him and others I've used is he asks for two runs each time you datalog. One just flat out zero to however high you are comfortable going, and then a second run where you just leave it in 3rd gear the whole time. His replies are very long and extremely detailed, if there were any issues he would bring them up to you and explain why he is changing certain things, and answer any questions you have.

He isn't the fastest as far as getting you the tune as he is a pretty busy guy. I think it was a week or two after I paid him before I received the base tune, but he had told me that up front and sent multiple emails in between keeping me up to date on his schedule and when I could expect to receive the tune.

I always went outside the city and found desolate Mexican country roads to make my passes for his datalog. Unless you are smack dab in the middle of Cleveland, you should be able to find an area that isn't too far of a drive. I wouldn't want to make a run anywhere that has a police presence.

We actually just released our SHO direct fit catch can, check out the link to the thread:
https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/livernois-motorsports-sho-catch-can-release.138631/

Loaded the V14 93 this morning and only noticed a very slight hesitation above 5500 when punching it. It was 26 degrees outside. Coming home temps were about 46 and there were no problems at all. The car threw me back in the seat and shifted fine up to ~90mph. Not trying to get a reckless driving ticket on an on-ramp.
We are glad to see that the updated tune has solved your shifting issues!

So got a chance to run the latest v15 tune updated with the slightly lower shift point, and it doesn’t shudder anymore on 2-3. With it floorboarded at the 2-3 shift at 70 or so you get the slightest hesitation and almost imperceptible hiccup when it shifts, but I’m gonna drive it for a while before I request the shift point be lowered anymore. Definitely get the feeling I’m right on the edge of the fueling capability of the stock high pressure pump at that point, though. Would really like to log it and see what the pressure actually is. Wonder what the air fuel and knock retard is doing at that point though. With low fuel pressure, you’d think it would be lean.

I know you’re supposed to turn traction control off when you flog it, but just for an experiment, I drove the **** out of on the way home and did 20 plus full throttle pulls from 40-70 with the traction control on and a couple 0-70+ runs, and it never did miss a shift again. Don’t know what caused it before, but it seems okay now. Hope it doesn’t do it again. Don’t think my heart could take it. Lol
Glad the updated tune fixed your concerns as well! Keep us updated!

How are the dealerships on non Oem fuel pumps ? Same as any mods made ? Gotta prove it caused a failure to void warranty.

Considering you have to be running the tune to make the pump work correctly it’s basically ymmv on how the dealer responds.

The pump will run with the stock setting won't it?

No, according the LMS the upgraded pump WILL NOT run correctly with the stock calibration. So you will need to swap the pumps out when you go back to stock.

Hey I moved this over here - I did not want to hijack the other thread anymore.

"This perfectly describes the last tune's behavior for my v11 shift Livernois tune. Was it cold outside? Can you relate it to air temperature?
Shoblock"
-*No it was warm, I installed my tune late summer, and it never gets that cold where I live, I want to be clear, BCB would be more then happy to look at the data and see whats happening it just has not happend that often. In fact it has only happened once with my latest version and I've been running it for awhile now. Unless it starts to become a problem I'm just going to live with it, to my knowledge BCB does not change anything with the transmission or shift pressures, at least they did not tell me they changed anything.

I loaded my first v11 in October. I'm in Northern Ohio, so it's cold, and there is no question the symptoms are worse as the temperature drops.
In the meantime, could everyone with v11 issues reply with the temperatures they are driving in?
Thanks

Can't recall if you and I discussed this or not - but my issues happened all the time - temp had nothing to do with it.

Good news here. Took Anthony's advice and gave it about 50-100 mi of driving after installing v11. Temp about 40-50 F . Didn't turn any controls off or use sport. No more missed 3rd hitting the rev limiter . Straight into 3rd and with the same force as 1st or 2nd . I'm debating not installing V14 now unless 11 fails .

If it runs okay with zero issues, LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
