Hello! i have had my 2011 sho pp for about 6 months now and although it’s been great ive decided its time for more power.

I was planning on getting the gearhead 93 octane tune but also wanted to know your guys opinions on e30. i ordered the sct x4, 3map bar sensor, spark plugs and plan on ordering the tune.

I just had a few questions sorry if they are dumb.

Is there something else i need to buy that could help?

How safe is it?

can i swap between e30 and 93 tunes easily with my sct tuner?

how much hp/tq will i gain compared to 93?

do i need to monitor my fuel pressure or other stats, and will i need to send it to gearhead or other tuning places?

would e15 or something like that be better and safer than e30?

and finally is it worth it in your opinion?

i’d love to hear your guys opinions, thanks!

i think e18 was the limit on a stock tune. you need an actual e tune for higher e content. your tuner can tell you if you need a stronger hpfp/injectors/etc. maybe even stronger lpfp.

yes monitor fp stats, and yes send to tuner. transparency is key to success.

not sure if this info is in SM105k's maintenance/performance thread, but it is worthwhile bookmarking regardless.

A stock HPFP will run out of fuel pushing E30. You'll see it in your logs. And without a bigger IC and better DPs, you're not going to get much, if any, benefit with E30.
I disagree to a point. You can see big gains with E30 on a stock hpfp. AJP (Brad) tuned my SHO (plugs, 3 bar, and K&N drop in) to 388 awhp and 463 awtq on E30 with a stock HPFP. We had a lot of revisions, and we both agreed on what acceptable fuel pressure was. Only when it got cold did I see a drop in fuel pressure, and we revised the tune.

Personally since you have 93 (I am limited to 91) I would forgo an e30 tune and run a "spicier" 93 tune. Then you don't have to worry about mixing fuels ect.

Interesting. What were the dyno numbers before E30?

When I first tuned the car (plugs, K&N drop in) on 91 octane it made 366 AWHP and 414 AWTQ in 105 degree heat

I hear ya. He wants to go from 93 to E30 so you're advice is right. Not much to gain, stick with 93. Same here unless you want to upgrade hardware.

It is much isnt the HP that these cars produce. It is the TQ. When I added my Catted DP's, my custom mid pipes my car made 391 awhp and 494 awtq on E30 with the stock HPFP.

I am a huge E30 fan being in AZ. Since we only have 91 octane I am limited. Air Intake Temps are completely stupid here in the summer, and the ethanol really help mitigates knocks, while keeping cylinder temps down. This is why my high performance boosted vehicles all have e30 to e50 tunes that I run year round.

If I was on the east coast, I would gladly run 93.

Okay, i will definitely just stick to the 93 tune. That definitely sounds like the best option. Thank you! Also do you suggest a k&n drop in filter with the 93 tune or do you think the performance is negligible?

100% I recommend a K&N drop in the stock air box. The stock air box is sealed from the engine heat, has ram air, and with the K&N filter it outflows the capacity of the stock turbos.
