I've seen a few tauri I nasty wrecks, even rolled over, and they always looked like they held up well. It's not a Taurus, but when I was a kid, around 1988 or so, my dad and I were driving in his ford LTD, the fox body kind, It was an 84 I think.
A dude high on LSD stopped his car in the middle of the highway at night, turned it off, got out and wandered off. It was at night and a dark highway. By the time my dad saw the car it was way too late and we slammed into the back of it at around 65 mph.
Car was crushed solid back almost to the firewall, but the interior was almost completely intact, with very little intrusion. This was before airbags, and we both had our seatbelts on. Other than some scratches and soreness we walked away with no injuries.
Car did exactly what it was suppose to, although my dad was ****** because he had just spent a bunch of money a week earlier on a new trans. I still remember watching about 3-4 cops tackling the guy after he had wandered back to his now totaled car.
Following week my dad got the first of many tauri that were part of my life growing up.
