Well I got home from college today to find my package from raxles was early :thumb: wasn't due to be here until Monday.

Well I got the shaft out and to my dismay think the problem was not in my inner joint, but in the "pillow bearing" that holds the intermediate shaft in the tranny on my 92mtx. This bearing has more play than one would think it should have.

I have been trying to find a vibration I have at 55-75 under hard acceleration, and have now replaced both hub bearings (which were shot), and new tires, and balance. I still have the vibration and am almost certain it is coming from this "pillow bearing" after inspecting it.

I found this thread: http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=7925&highlight=intermediate+shaft+bearing :omg:

Which leads me to believe I am screwed in finding a new one??? :bonk:

To my knowledge there is not an off-the-shelf replacement part. If you get stuck, I have a couple of them on the shelf (used of course). Let me know if you need one before I head to the shop tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the offer Fred. I decided to put it back together with the old intermediate shaft at the moment. I haven't driven it yet, but I guess I will know in the morning when I get a hand to move the couch that is behind it. :)

Some people also call these pillow blocks, just incase that dont know what you are saying when you tell them pillow bearing.

Search the auto parts sources. I found a listing for this bearing while shopping for CV shafts. I would have to retrace my steps. You can give it a try too. Check with AutoZone, O'Reilly, RockAuto. etc.

Well the new c/v shaft from raxles fixed the problem. I re-used the intermediate shaft, even though I thought it had alot of side to side play. After looking at the design more I realized the side to side play was ok, as the bearing wasn't intended to take side to side load. Up and down there was no movement, so back in the car it went.
