Well I will try to answer your ?. Tell your buddy that their are two oil lights for the sho_One of them is in fact the low oil level light the other one tells you when your oil pressure has dropped below,I believe 6 pounds of oil pressure. If the oil level is fine then it is probably the light for the pressure which is not always but about 95% of the time not a good thing.Ask your buddy if the light only comes on when at idle or at higher rpm's.Some of the higher mileage sho's without proper maintenance suffer from rod bearing failure. You may also ask your buddy how he can own a 92+ when they only made the + package in 91. wink

Tell him to stop driving the car IMMEDIATELY!!As was said,if the oil level is good, that would be the oil pressure light. It is caused usually by rod bearing failure.Damage may have already have been done, but check it out asap while there is still hope.If they get bad enough,it will take out the crank, then he`ll be looking into another motor.

Jeremy, how would just the flickering oil light mean your bearings are bad? Because the oil cant get through ?? or a nother reason ?

The rod bearings are probably so worn that the pump can't make the pressure at idle to keep the light off. ~5-7 lbs I think.

Yep, I autocrossed my early '92 back in May. After my 3rd run, my oil light was flickering. It had just run the course with no problems. I decided to give it a rest and check oil levels during the break. After a while, my father took it to get lunch. When he got back, he told me not to race anymore, bad bearings. A nice low end clatter started. That started my search for a fresh 3.2.

P.S. There is a difference in early and late '92 SHOs. My early '92 has no passenger side airbag. It also doesn't have the extra 1/2" lip on the front spoiler.

I was just reading an magazine ad last night from November 1991 for the "new" SHO.The passenger side air bag was a option. The front lip has been noticed before, but nobody knew the reason for the change.
