need to come up with electric indash speedo and tac for minigun, 3 3/8 models will work

i assume just about any tac will work but what about speedo input. autometer says to use their signle generator that plugs into ford trannys... i asume it work for the MTX but whatabout the factor vss ? what single does it produce

autometer signel generator.

It looks like it comes with a stub of a cable to it should work with the mtx. I assume it generates some sort of sinusoidal signal. I dont know how you would fasten the autometer section to the stock sensor, it looks like it is supposed to replace the speedo gear housing but i dont think it would work that way.

There should be a way to tap into the VSS and read the signal the ECC does. I have no idea how you would calibrate such a thing.

Phoenix did it...

Yup , and thats what im doing my my shogun too.

Go on speedhut.com , you can order anything , the way you want it. You just have to tap the VSS connector. Once its hooked , you need to drive like 2-3 miles (presicely - use highway markers) and press the button to calibrate.
Theres also models with GPS , so you dont need to do that calibration - But with that model you also have the 1/4 mile times , elevation , etc etc.

Its not cheap though , the base KIT begins at 375-400$ , but it comes with electronic oil press sender , and coolant temp.

The Autometer 5292 is a powered Hall sensor designed to plug into the speedo gear of Ford rear drive trannies, like the T5. I have one of these on the T5 in my Mustang. The 5292 won't mate with the MTX-IV speedo cables or the speedo boss on the tranny case.

The Autometer programmable electronic speedos will work with either Hall effect sensors, like the 5292, or with sine wave sensors, like the Taurus VSS. They have a pretty broad programmable range from 500 and 400,000 pulses/mile. I used to know the pulses/mile of the Taurus VSS, but it's not in my long term memory anymore. If you like, I can look it up when I get home.

EDIT: Ford VSS, and least the old ones for the 1st and 2nd Gen Tauri were 2.222 Hz per MPH, or 7999 pulses per mile. The amplitude of the sine signal may be below detectability (for EEC), or almost non-existent below 5MPH.
