well today upon further inspection i noticed that the actual fan blade itself is soemwhat loose most likely causing it to wobble thus hitting the plastic and causing my grinding noise. is there a way to tighten this baby up?
thanks in advance

If I recall correctly, the fan is held onto the motor's shaft with a spring clip. Either the clip slipped off or the hub is cracked. You will have to remove the fan and shroud to see what happened.

On my 89, just two bolts hold the shroud to the radiator. The fan motor is mounted to the shroud.

Just remove the top flat plastic plate over the radiator, disconnect the electrical connector for the fan, remove harness retaining clips, remove the two bolts, and the entire fan and shroud assembly should lift up and out.
