Hello, everyone, and thanks in advance for any advice. Here's the rundown of what I'm diagnosing:
- 1995 SHO ATX suddenly dies on the highway
- oil light is on (plenty of oil in the crankcase), cranks but won't start, cooling fan runs constantly
- fuel pump runs (and has power) but no pressure at the rail (impact switch is fine)
- with fuel pump connected directly to the battery, fuel pressure is present but will still not start
- starts briefly with starter fluid sprayed in the manifold
- replaced CCRM and PCM with replacements from ShoSource but the symptoms have not changed

At this point, I'm not sure where to look next. Is there another single point of failure that could possibly cause all of these symptoms at the same time?

The mechanic who first looked at it said there were no codes, but I should verify for myself. Will check that and report back. Thanks

maybe you have a ground issue, clean all the grounds. be sure the two bolts are secure at the bottom of the DIS
does the fan turn on when you turn the key to accessory, but not starting the car? That can be a ground issue you do a search on here. or bad PCM
is fuel just trickling out of the Schraeder valve and not spraying out?

Yes, that is the normal symptom of a bad ground to the pcm so I would check all of those.

Does the tachometer register when you try to start?

Test your crank sensor before you spend any more money.
(see attachment) the sensor shown is the round connector pass.side behind the DIS nested in the runners. NOTE: test is with key on.
Let us know how u do
best to ya.

Noob here. I’m actually having the same symptoms on a 92 mtx. Was hoping giving the ircm and good whack would help it but to no avail. Hoping to get the car to my garage tomorrow to start troubleshooting

Mystery solved. I left it with a mechanic friend of mine who figured out that it was indeed a bad CCRM. The original was bad, and the replacement I ordered was also bad. In his words:

“Runs good! “New” CCRM fixed it. Your old one worked but had high resistance so wasn’t sending enough to the fuel pump. That’s why we only saw 9volts. New module is sending 14v to the pump and you can hear the pump turn on when you turn the key now.”

Thanks to everyone who weighed in and best of luck to everyone with the same issue.

Awesome good to hear! Might I ask where you picked up the ccrm? They seem few and far between
