clutch/ throw out bearing part help

i am in the middle of a clutch replacement, i am also replacing the trans with a freshly rebuilt one ( well i replaced bearings and syncros as well as seals,not really a rebuild). in the process i have found typical problems, the throw out bearing has cut most of my pressure plates fingers off.
What i am needing help on is the two pins that retain the throw out bearing to the forrk. They are in my service manual for 1989 under the installation section for the clutch page 16-02-3 if interested. the pins are listed as part n801408-s/ ..does anyone know where i could get them or what i could use in there place? i am sure i could find something that will work,but if anyone has found something that worked out well for them please let me know.:thankyou:

The pins are still available, just go visit your local dealer with that number.

well iam a dumb A**
i have a student asking me if i always read the instructions before doing a job.he is kind of laughing at me like its a waste of time..i told him that i normally do read it or at least skim it over..he again asked if i really do read it every time...mental bell goes off in my head he said read for the 2nd time...

after he negoitiate for the possibility of extra credit for this rare ,obsolite sho part he reads to me..

NOTE: this pin is used as an assembly aid,Any other suitable means of retaining the bearing during transaxle instal is acceptable.

okay so that has reaffermed that i am a ********, i point out to him that this is a lesson ...not on in life but i did this on purpose to teach all of the class how important it is to read.... they didnt buy it not for a minute.. i feel like a ******** big time.... i can only laugh at this not only did i stop the install of my car for this but actually posted it for all the gurus of the all mighty SHO to see.

if i wanted to feel this dumb i should have just advertised it on my window...

oh well at least i didnt do it in front of a large group of people...wait i have 55 students in my class...well at least know one else knows.... i mean the forum is member on;ly right it is not out in the world right???? www world wide web!!!!!!

The ceramic TOB from shonutperformance includes a new pin with it.

There is just one, on the top. It's a plastic push in pin. You need it.

Just goes to SHO, even the most qualified people...

Take your pick...

1. can be stumped by these mysterious machines
2. are less important than a thorough understanding of the system being repaired
3. make things more difficult than needed, sometimes

why do you say you need it? i understand that it will help the throw out bearing pull away from pp fingers..but the manual said for assembly only???have you had problems without one???

small cotter pin FTW.

door panel retainer(modified) FTW.

2 penny nail, bent FTW.

Small wire-like cotter pin FTW, in my case...and my ceramic TOB did not come with that thing...

That's a pretty fugly TOB you got there. Did you do that customization yourself?

Small wire-like cotter pin FTW, in my case...and my ceramic TOB did not come with that thing...

Josh usually tapes it to the box. I nearly missed one that way, too.

BTW, safety wire works really well, too.

Yup a little bit of TIG welding wire worked well for me
